  1. Nah, I just think everybody is out doing Scout stuff (rake-n-run anyone?) or dropping off their Scouting for Food bags
  2. I did wonder about the blue face! Nice, nice story
  3. It seems to me, most of this is covered under YP guidelines. In the GTSS (orange cover, pg. 6, in bold it says "All members of the Boy Scouts of America are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the principles set forth in the Scout Oath and Law. Physical violence, hazing, bullying, theft, verbal insults, and drugs and alcohol have no place in the Scouting program and may result in the revocation of a Scout's membership in the unit." The Troop Committee Guidebook, 2004 publication date, does address physical abuse on pg. 40 in reference to YP and further states, "If at any ti

  5. www.boyscouttrail.com has some groaners. The "Hare" restorer. There have a couple good stories, too (medic man)
  6. Nice answer FuzzyBear. I am a one-on-para and committee member. The boy I work with has behavior "issues" and trouble learning. I know at his first BOR, they were surprised at how well he did, especially remembering things. Being with him all day at school, when I do go on the campouts he attends or even at meetings, the guys are good about not having me deal with problems. It took a little while though, for him to understand that he is a scout everywhere he goes, school, church etc.-he thought he only had to behave like one at Scouts, (though I did find out mom "tweaks" his meds. before meeti
  7. I loved seeing this as my son & I began scouting in Saudi Arabia. His very first campout was in the middle of nowhere with wild dogs, baboons and goatherders nearby. And ALWAYS, you could hear the call to prayer. After 4 1/2 years back in the States (13 in-Kingdom), we still miss hearing it. And as we've always told our children-it's not what you say-it's what you do that's important in this life.

  9. Oatmeal is a meat or vegetable?! Oh, sorry. I guess it is if it's haggis!
  10. Since I joined the Troop almost 2 years ago, the only hot dogs I've seen were in a foil dinner. (Our SM even discourages the boys from Ramen noodles.)On a campout last Fall, (tailgate camping), I did steak & bacon-wrapped scallops and on the last couple campouts I've been on, the boys have cooked things like chili with corn muffins, chicken parm. & fried donuts-all in dutch ovens. Last week, they cooked sausages on a rock
  11. Dare I ask what ya'll wear under them? When I was in High School, our drill instructor was a member od a Drum & Bugle Corps that wore kilts. His response was "Scotch Tape." Hmm-our SM is Scottish...
