My troop does a barbeque(sp?) each year as our number one fundraiser. We also do the popcorn, etc.. The packs also do the popcorn, have a barbeque and car wash. They also work in stands at the ball park and make a certain percent of their sales.

Anybody care to join me for a little bit? I doubt I'll be in long; had football camp all week.

We pay $16 each year in dues at rechartering, scout fee, Boys' Life, etc If we sell at least $100 worth of popcorn in the fall, the troop covers all of that. Work credits, etc also deduct the cost of rechartering.

They are why some league are just what they are- completely horrible. Definitely a waste of time for most people. And most boys playing sports are going to be playing in school sports and/ or competitive leagues.

Good point Bob. Only way they could play sports and still be soooo out of shape is if they play football and dont have to work to get in shape.

It sounds to me that 75% of your troop shouldnt be advancing if they are competing with the leaders for the biggest gut. That would mean they arent keeping themselves physically strong. Or at least not trying to do so.

I didnt get First Class until this last February. This was almost four years.

I thought you had to go through two years of WEBLOS. And, no it is not that unusual. My friend has his Eagle already.

I had gone on maybe one campout before WEBLOS. Now, it is like second nature. I think they need to experience it before joining a troop even if the parents do most of the work.

That means they would lose all of their money for sure. Right?? Staying with the church means they will still have some, if not most of the money they have earned.

Currently, my Eagle Scout friend and I are troop guides for our new scout patrol. This is the same patrol that I was a den chief for since 2001. The Scoutmaster thought it would be good to have me there so they knew somebody.

One way they stand it, KS, is that it doesnt feel as hot because of low humidity levels there. Dont get me wrong, its still hot, but ours is just as bad in St Louis during the summer months. We have such high humidity levels that even when its only about 85 degrees out, it feels worse. I've stayed inside today for most of the day for that reason. It's not really hot, its sticky.

Though camping is a primary part of Boy Scouts, some boys, including my brother, have no interest in it. If a boy wants to learn camping skills, he will in the program. BTW, it must be a local thing for you to have learned so much about camping in Girl Scouts. All three of my sisters were/are in Girl Scouts and none of them have the expereince/ training that I have had in three years in Boy Scouts. And sometimes I help at day camp and very few of them know anything.

I wear men's clothing. I'm not talking some 11 year old's stuff.

Sorry to tell you, SagerScout, you're wrong. Jeans will fit in a zip bloc bag. It will be tight, but will do. I use Walmart bags usually because you can get more in each one and its cheaper, a Scout is thrifty.

My friend ( EAGLE SCOUT) forgot his cot, non arosal? bug spray, sleeping pad, and badanna, and a couple other things that I cant remember. I forgot to get more money from my mom. She only gave me ten bucks.

Mr Guy, if you think the uniform is sooo bad, why? Tell us that. And the same with the Handbook and "many" of the policies. Then, maybe you should try to get them changed. Or are you gonna just hide behind the keyboard all the time?? You may not be able to do everything, but you could at least try.
