  1. Rooster, you're right. They do have special heart protectors or something like that for little kids, but they are like 50 dollars apiece. I dont know a league who would be able to buy 200 of those or more.
  2. Let me know.... maybe I'll try joining you.
  3. Our crew does some backpacking. Next summer we are going to Isle Ryale. We also got a grant called Team St. Louis in which we are going to be cleaning, and repainting the old library which is a historical land mark in our town. We are going to have a barbeque soon, pick up trash at parish picnic, etc.
  4. Not positive, but I think at our camp they said it was for wearing on a hat.
  5. "I never go camping without my... Scout HANDBOOK!" Mine goes too, but it is one of the last things to get packed.
  6. FOG, I have plenty of catalogs sitting around, though mainly military surplus. I had my mom's copy of the Scouting catalog, but it got all ripped up from getting looked at so much. Then, it found its way on to the floor and got stepped on.:)
  7. Merlyn, I also have a question for you.... Why do you hang around here if you dont believe in the basis of the forum? It is for "scouting discussions". The Boy Scouts of America state in both the Scout Law and the Scout Oath that there is a God and a scout should believe. Isnt that right? Scout Oath On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to GOD and my country to obey the Scout Law and keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Scout Law A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteseous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and REVERENT.
  8. You want to show me where that is at?? I looked on the website and couldnt find it.
  9. In there right now, though I dont know how long I will remain in.
  10. Our policy is like that at summer camp, but not always on weekend campouts.
  11. I just took the poll at Scoutstuff.org.... it said they were supposed to come out with a new hat by 2003. Ok, where's it at? I looked around the website, and found nothing. Anybody know?
  12. I saw it. That is also very kind of what he does for vacation- go give out free backpacks and make repairs for backpackers on the AT.
  13. I'm no expert, but I would say that you arent getting the cap on completely if it leaks. I have not had any problems with mine since I got it in March. My short list would have to be my Thermobak 3L(olive drab mil-style), little pouch with multitool, MiniMag, headstrap, compass, knife a part of a caribiner, rope, first aid kit, sunglasses, and boonie hat
  14. Prayer alone wont do it. People pray that the doctors and nurses at the hospital are able to get the person healed and back on their feet ASAP. Without Him, we wouldnt have everything we have, such as this forum...
  15. Somebody pulling a knife in our troop is just a normal happening..... they dont mean anything, just bored and screwing around. The knives that you can open with a quick flick is part of the problem....they can grab them and whip it out in, when practiced, just seconds. I think the SPL did a good job in at least taking it into his own hands and looking into it, and THEN tell the adults.
  16. OGE, it the quote is.... "it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt, then it's hilareous"(sp) We always laugh about snipe hunts in our troop. I dont see any problem taking the younger boys on a night hike and tell them that is what we are going to do. I dont see how it could be any worse than playing capture the flag at night w/o flashlights.
  17. "Hi Jamie, I'm wondering in your Council do they allow Gold Award projects to serve the Girl Scout community?" They do in the area council near me too. My oldest sister, for her Gold Award, directed a day camp for Girl Scouts. Also, my youngest, but still older, sister is doing a similar project right now.
  18. OGE, I'll have to think about it a little bit. Got to go to bed now, so I'll explain tomorrow.
  19. Actually, today was the varisity game. They won 21-6. It was rainy all day long and very humid at the game.
  20. Darn it, dsteele, I am not going to be on tonite.... going to the varisity football game in a few minutes, and I have to be up for my game which starts at 9 tomorrow morning. :( Oh well
  21. All Eagle COH invitations I have received say "No gifts, please"
  22. OGE, we had that a cardboard canoe race at summer camp. Our troop won by a long shot. It was awesome.
  23. We did, but why not do every night?? We used to go in on Tuesday nights, but it got expanded to pretty much every night, at least a couple would come in.
