  1. Well I worked hard on Saturday and had a blast with the other scouters. Love this spring ordeal because of all the laughs.
  2. As Oldscout448 stated that would be hard to do and Our Lodge promotes service outside scout as well as for scouting. We have been doing ordeal there for 42 years. The rangers just love what we do for them.
  3. Funny that more females I talk to think BOY Scouts should be for boys only......hmmmmmmm.

  4. I have been involved in scouting for almost 25 years of my 45 years on this planet. I love scout but just can not shack this allowing Transgenders in. This was an organization for male youth were they build them up to be men. Now they are take this away. I maybe resigning just have not pulled the trigger yet.

Give it time. I imagine the situation on the ground will not change for the vast majority of us.

Agree, give it time. you do this for the boys in your unit and they will help ground you.

  5. I have been thinking about this topic all day since hearing about it and I'm starting to lean towards walking away. I think Coed can be a good thing but also think Boys and Girls need a place to call their own.
  6. There goes majority of the campouts. I had a hard time getting an Adult of any sex to come on troop campouts. The best way would if you want your TG to come camping you need to come with.
  7. Stosh, I could not say it better. A woman was complaining to a male friend of mine about her not finding a good male that not soft. He told her he was glad to hear it. Society and women like her has been pushing for the softer or feminine Male. Now what are we seeing more young men more and more staying in their parents house jobless. Connection I would say so.
  8. This issue in my eyes is not an issue. She did not run away she left to work at a job. Sounds like that the parents were way off base here.
  9. BSA just needs to go coed. Their is no reason not to do it. Heck the first thing my son said was they just need to let girls in.
  10. I googled Boy Scouts Cresap's Trail, Straus BSA and two auctions sites came up but they were old auctions. Well I'll keep check to see if another one pops up.
  11. Hello All, I've been looking for a Cresap’s Trail High Adventure patch. This was a Baltimore Area Council high adventure camp back in the 1980's at Straus Wilderness Area. I don't think this Wilderness Area is used by the BSA anymore. Love to get my hands on one if anyone has a spare one. Thanks!
  12. I agree as I told others there where far better scouts that were my friends that never earned Eagle
  13. You can take back your Apology Because my son just earned his Eagle Scout rank 22 Days after turning 18. I'm happy to see him do what he told me when he was a Tiger Cub Scout. :D
  14. Well the two scouts with speaking parts I think (since I had to leave) were Kyle (from my son's troop) and Steffon. They are both great young men and hope to get them more involved with the OA. I did get all the scouts and you something to show how much the chapter and I thanks them for all the help. I will have to present my token of gratitude at the Ordeal. I understand your feeling and can only hope for the best out come. My chapter had no Adults called out because I had not heard back from Lodge and I really did not care. The youth are what the program about. I got push back about
  15. Oldscout448, First off, I think I'm the new OA Advisor of the chapter you helped out. If not very eerie similar to my chapters Callout. In my instance, I could not have asked for any better help at the Callout. Both the advisor and youth members from the other Chapter were great. The youth arrowman told me that he would help any brother that need help! He said he would stay for the callout and lead my chapters youth new to the ceremony team. I had to leave because my son had emergency Surgery but I was told by other adults for my district that it went well. I hope to see all my OA
  16. It's funny to me that you think he is Eagle. He has three partial merit badges and his Eagle Project to do. He has 2.5 months to complete it all but we will see if that gets done. My AS asked permission to be his pain in the butt until he gets it. I laughed and said you do not need my permission. Wish he would have listen to me since I told him and all scout from the troop to not wait until the last minute. I did and did not get to enjoy wearing my eagle rank on my scout uniform. Oh course if he does not get Eagle that is fine because he has learned the important things in scouti
  17. I will never understand placing rank patches on the back of the sash. Boy Scouts are not Cubbies who wear all their ranks earned until the tan shirt which usually just wear Webelos badge.
  18. So worse case scenario is if they don't let him take Scoutmaster Essentials then Unit Scouter Reserve is what I will register him as. Thanks for the help.
  19. My son is turning 18 at the end of March and has told me he is willing to become an Assistant Scoutmaster. He has stated that he will help out with attending Camping trip but will limit his Troop meeting attendance. I fine with that and having him around on Campout will help me out a lot. Heck, I have some AS that are no real help to me at all. My question is our District has classroom part (sorry forgot the name) of SM training in March before my Son turns 18. Can he attend the train or does he have to wait until he is an adult? Thanks.
  20. All, I keep see people post that Scouts should be able to wear their OA sash at CoH or other big events. I think the Merit Badge sash is more important because it show what the scout has accomplished! My Son's Merit Badge sash has 43 merit badges on it which is far more then I earned (I think I earned 26 or so.) It's looks great on him just like it does with a scout with one merit badge on his sash. The OA sash is nice but the Merit Badge sash is far better for CoH, Eagle dinners, Flag Ceremonies, Etc.
  21. All, I'm a Knight and this is the first time I have heard about this. My council does not charter a BSA Troop so maybe that is why. The one thing I keyed in to the Letter from Supreme Knight Anderson is that all Councils need to integrate Squire Circles (Youth version of KofC Councils) into Parish Youth. Squires is/was a big Youth Activity for the Knights and now they are phasing it out. Does this have to do with the BSA membership change NO! This is about making the parish the focal point of the Family. YOS, MSM
  22. When was it okay for women to wear their shirts untucked? The shirts are not made to be worn like an Military blouse.
  23. "(1) Don't Cubs wear the AoL on the left pocket FLAP???" AJR2305GDC, The AOL did go on the left pocket flap when I was a Webelo (30 years ago) but I think that changed when they changed to the tan uniform and started using the oval webelos rank. I think they are assuming that the scout will have out grown the blue shirt by 9 1/2 years old. This was true with my son, who blue shirt was busting at the seems his first Webelos year.
  24. ALl you need to do is have the adult that was in the OA fill out the Lodge application and pay his or Her dues and they are back in the OA.
