My old troop always had an Eagle Scout dinner for all of the Eagles. I know that this can be very expensive and also cause problem. When I earned my Eagle Scout rank, I was told to wait for a couple of months so the other two scouts getting Eagle could get it at the same ceremony eliminate the monetary cost. I end up wait for about 5 months. Since, I was 18 yrs old and tired of scouting (I been cured of that) all I wanted was my medal. I agree with T165ASM on this one. I thinking (most) adults are the major problem when it comes to the PWD.

My oldest made Life four months after turning 12.. My second oldest, currently a 13 year old (7th grade) Star Scout Life at age 13.. After reading this thread I was surprised about the rank advancement. It has been thirteen years since I got out of Boy Scouts at the age of 18 (earned my eagle just as I aged out.) I have a question on Historical Trail patches and Medals. I'm planning a trip to Gettysburg Battlefield for my Cub Scout den. While I was planning it I thought that my Niece (who is in Girls Scouts) would love to attend this event. Now here is my question. Are Girls Scouts allow earning Patches and Medals dealing with Historical trails (not sure if they are just for Boy Scout) or is just like earning wolf or bear badge? I wonder is the extra cost of the uniforms (profit part) goes towards financing the BSA. The uniforms maybe a little pricey but Americans waste more money on their toys (adult and juvenile) to be complaining about the price of one shirt and pair of pants! Mark Maranto

All, I received an email right after I post this thread and it pointed me to the BSA Northern Tier National High Adventure Trading Post. The price of the jack was about $115 even though its post on their web site as $90. I have never owned one of these Jacket but I've worn Civil War era uniforms (that are Wool)when I do living history events for the public. This year was my son's first PWD. We sat down and he designed the Car into a pick up truck. I cut the car out because he just did not want to. He did come up to me and ask me to add little details on the truck and I did. He picked out the color and he would have painted it if we did not run out of time. All, Im going to ask a question that I think I already know the answer to. Im an Eagle Scout but have not been involved with Scout since 1992. I became a Tiger Cub Den Leader in the fall when my son joined up. I think the pants are okay and the ones I had when I was boy where great and still are. Did my troop wear our uniform when we where camping? The answer is NO! None of use wanted to mess them up.
