Out of question, shouldn't all the crossover AoL scouts already have their cyber chip while in 5th grade from having done it in cub scouts? Its good for an entire year and can be recharged to be extended. It really should only affect scouts who join a troop with no prior scouting experience.

If we're at 3 nights now, we didn't even get there until 1990. Seems to me that we've actually gotten more outdoor focused over time.
I would describe it as advancement is getting more outdoor focused, but yes on your main point.

Is prohibited.....https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss07/#b #9 7th item. Wonder what they would say about the wind tunnels that allow you to practice?
There’s a Cub Scout nova award around wind tunnels, so presumably it’s ok.

Arguably any skydiving pair is in sight of lots of other scouts and scouts, so doesn't violate ypt.

Problem is, that check gets you on the IV list. Then, when those lists get subpoenaed in the next round of law suits, there your name is to be drug through the dirt, even if the check was wrong.
That’s not unique to this new agreement though.

All Council and my unit need to know is National's membership decision: approved or not.
Isn’t that a disclosure though?

Since they are separate legal entities "clients" probably includes your council and troop. Without that clause then the most they could do would be to respond with "nope, not that guy."
Even saying that might count as disclosure to a third party to the Chartering Organization.
And most lawyers have seemed to say that the language used is broad because its directly quoting the FCRA.

'd easily ditch the 1st and 2nd grade scouting years. Maybe do 3rd. Fourth is a good time to plug in. Boy Scouts definitely. But this whole idea of kindergarten through 5th grade for cub scouts ? It's ridiculous and it's killing excitement before Boy Scouts where the kids really benefit.
Looking at what other countries do, it seems like they split off k-2 and 3-5 into two different programs. If we are to have a k-12 program, that really ought to be a goal, IMO. Breaking those two out would greatly improve the ability to do fun stuff with the 3-5 kids. More hiking, camping, outdoors, without as much worry about kids being ready. Trying to set standards for activities for all kids k-5 is really tough.

I suspect she knows why national won't give her a EBoR yet, because once you finish the EBoR, you're an eagle, and national want to make sure that no one can claim to be first.

Yes, that's where the DE said she saw it. Good job tracking it down.
I just don't think those pages should be considered controlling relative to other sources.

Why is anyone making a deal over this? Just do more one night camp outs if you feel your wings are clipped. Why do people have such a hard time understanding that scouting is not the same as what you do personally. You are part of an organization that has liability issues to consider and is in the public eye. What you do personally you cannot do while camping with scouts.
Perhaps even sequentially back to back overnight events…
near as I can tell, the bsa National has made no such ruling that only 1 night at a time is allowed, and if they do want that to be the rule, they should make it explicit.

Found where it came from: https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/activities/cub-scout-camping/
“Packs may not conduct campouts longer then overnight. “
that said, I’m not sure how binding those pages are. I know the pages on the ranks gets interpreted incorrectly about how the webelos program works.-

Sigh. Sounds like another needless controversy brewing....
Especially since it also described resident camp as
- Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts may participate in a resident overnight camping program operating under BSA National Camping School–trained leadership and managed by the council.
Sounds like someone is over reading.

I wouldn't be troubled by the Sea Base guy if he'd just been caught with the reefer, but LSD isn't a substance I want to just dismiss with a wink towards youthful exuberance. If he's into that stuff, I really don't want him working where I send my kids.
In addition, he was caught driving erratically under the influence.

I thought the BSA has agreements with the NRA and USA Archery. As a result I thought they can be worn. But reading the article it states it cannot be worn. Thanks all.
I think that if someone is complaining about the lack of a fleur de lis on your temporary insignia patch, they've missed the point.

how common is it for district-level volunteers to be expected to donate a certain amount in order to maintain their position?
HAHAHAHAHA. I mean, yeah I'll probably end up donating a hefty amount by the end, but if that were expected, they can take this job and shove it. But given that the line of people showing up to do stuff is me and two or three other cub scouters I don't think they'll happen.

We've found back to school nights to be awful for recruitment. Parents are busy trying to find everything and don't have time to grab stuff.

So, our state is trying to get overdose recovery kits to likely responders ...
Is this the new "epi- pen" that scouts should be prepared to use?
Its not a bad idea for scouts to learn to use it, and to recognize the signs of when to.

Regarding the increase in registration and last minute notice, from the phone conversation I had earlier today, a lot of council pros are ticked off and are bugging the heck out of national about it. The tone I got is that it has ticked a lot of folks council execs off because they have already started their recruiting, and now are informed of a registration increase, when folks already paid for 2020 with their roundup fee.
Rather rightfully so. Our recruitment season is almost over here and we will have to go back to everyone and say sorry, but we'll need some extra fees this year.

So, as we mature, we need to be less uniform police and more insignia dorks!
"Tell me about this patch" is far more interesting than "this patch doesn't meet regulation".

To be fair, the inside and outside of scouting only refers to the youth protection rules like no 1 on 1 contact.
-
Another option would be to take on some roles on the district training committee.

I do suspect that scouting does draw quirky kids more so than other situations. And Wolf year is kinda the worst, second graders can be really loud in groups, but can't really focus yet.
Looking at a different unit can help, if there's a more controlled group try there.

What kool aid
Some scouters here like to rag on wood badge because it does sometimes attract a certain overbearing personality. And some councils get really into the wood badge as a fun course of hijinks and traditions instead of a pretty decent leadership training course.
