  1. It probably did not help that our "guide" did not have ANY enthusiasm. He was low volume and read the back of the flip chart to us and that was it. I knew another person in my group already, but the rest didnt speak. It was 10:00 am after being there since 7:30 am and I suggested to the guide that we introduce ourselves, what our positions were, etc
  2. I spoke of this in my thread... but I packed up my stuff during the Blue and Gold Banquet on the first night and went home. I did not see the value in "being a Cub Scout". I did not see the value in small group discussions and playing asinine games to reinforce something we just talked about. I did not see the value in hanging around for two more days of the same. I was a Cub Scout, I know what that is like. I was a Boy Scout, I know what is like. Just get the material on leadership and explain the why and how and cut me loose. Maybe keep snacks available to graze on during the
  3. Aside from my anxieties. I am the sort of person where I just want the material. I am willing to sit there all day and watch it being presented. Keep a supply of snacks during the day and Im good. I have no tolerance for reflection and group discussions. Just get it done. I have 5 ticket ideas that I will probably go ahead and implement. I dont need a new neckerchief or beads to know I am doing what needs to get done for my Unit. I just wont be part of the club.
  4. 1) I have self confidence issues and depression and being in the environment of WB freaks the crap out of me. It goes WAY beyond being out of my comfort zone. 2) I am a black and white thinker. I can even start to think the way the material wants me to think. probably more when I go it over it more.
  5. Packed up my stuff and came home tonight while everyone was crossing the bridge the first night. It was not fun at all today, in fact it was mentally draining. Its not that there was alot of information, it was just a bad experience. My personality type does not favor being a WB participant.
  6. I have one of these. Tent, sleeping bag, tarp, all gear except my clothes and chair are in there.
  7. Everything is packed. Hope they don't laugh at me for the size of my gear pile. I don't own little compact backpacking stuff. Cub Scout Leader here. Starts at 7:30 am tomorrow!!!
  8. Answered most of em kinda sorta. Only 15, not 20. Weird
  9. I don't know how to answer these questions. My level of self confidence almost prohibits me from answering most of these questions. i.e. I don't have one strength must less three. I am sitting here weighing how pissed my wife will be if I don't go and if I do cancel will I then resign all my positions effective immediately or at least until the committee can figure out what to do.
  10. So... if I were to not answer these 20 questions and just go. Would that be a huge problem?
  11. Two of our Council camps have been opened for Unit camping with the following guidelines. GUIDELINES In order to keep unit camping options open at these camps, we need your help. Follow these guidelines (refer back before your outing to ensure you are following the latest guidelines). Camping will be in your own tent unless you live in the same household. Hammock safety guidelines. Gloves and masks are required while handling food. Anyone handling food will also need this certification. Food prep area must be marked. Individual
  12. I took a few photos tonight. Can't see my kid because he was on the other side of the Flag.
  13. Just a hypothetical question.... Is the training itself worth the time if a person didn't complete the ticket part?
  14. Tomorrow night for the first time our Cub Scouts are going to "help" the Troop with flag detail at the varsity HS football game. Is it disrespectful of me to take photos of the Scouts during the National Anthem? It's the kind of photos we kind of need to put out in the community but I don't want to be a jerk.
  15. If the figure on that site are accurate, I am not sure I have an issue with the SE salary being 2% of the entire expenses. Another chart shows that 88.5% of the expenses are going to program. We have 4 really nice Council camps. Our UoS program is held on the SMU campus and its a good event in the past we could have it. At the end of the day I don't have too many issues with Circle Ten, and I am not sure that salary for the size of our Council is unreasonable.

  17. I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the 80s. I am entering my 4th year as an Adult leader. I am pretty active outside of my Unit in that I know leaders from other Units, I know the DE, I am getting pretty familiar with the people in the Council office. I can tell you exactly what our Pack dues will get you. I am not sure I can sit down with a new parent and explain what the fees that go to National are used for. As a parent, I am not sure what I send to National has any value.
  18. Apparently it was a mistake and should not have been included in our recharter letter. I understand its just for Scoutreach Units.
  19. A Scout is Trustworthy.... but I might lie next time. 😂 That TDaP vaccine kicked my butt. I spent the entire week feeling like I was running a fever, and couldnt make it but a few hours without a nap. It was bad enough I scheduled a Covid test on Thursday evening that came back 'Negative". I was sure I had something though. I missed my orientation meeting this morning, still felt pretty weak and tired this morning. Much better this evening, so I am hoping that is all behind me now. Course begins on Oct 9.
  20. I took 3 more applications to the office today. I think 15 new Scouts since Aug 1. I still have interested parents who want to sign up their kids. The only outdoor activity idea does not apply here I dont think. All of our youth sports are in full swing and practicing.
  21. I will tell you like I told my Den Leaders. Don't do that. The Scoutbook for Den Leaders is horrible garbage.
  22. Got TDaP this morning so shot record is good for the medical form. Next step is pre-event meeting this Saturday. I understand there will be an opportunity to purchase shirts and other marketed attire.
  23. Thanks, I just wanted to verify instead of make an assumption.
  24. I am not one to see how much I can sew on my uniform, but I would like to get the awards for what I actually earn. Can tenure for Cubmasters Key and Scouters Training Award be concurrent?
