  2. I am only a Cubmaster. What do I do about a Committee Chair doing a half-ass job in their role? Committee Chair has expired YPT 2 new Committee members this year (after Jan) don't have applications turned in, one never received an application. Committee chair wants things done a certain way, but then never follows through on execution. Things are talked about and then never followed through. I understand this is a weird year, but we havent talked about a planning meeting or budget meeting and we are just about 1/2 way through May.
  3. Im Cub Scouts so this would work well for us.
  4. How do you keep this transmission source clean between EACH person putting thier hands on it not to mention thier water that goes to the mouth?
  5. Once again Cub Scouts because thats where am at now. I am hearing talk of wiping down all the BB guns, bows, arrows, etc before each new group comes up. I just don't see how that is possible. Time wise and effectively.
  6. I am removing names and precise locations from this conversation, because this was not in a public forum. Me: Unfortunately we have decided that *****and I are not attending Resident Camp in June. I realize right now its an issue of more testing, but the numbers in just ***** County are climbing quickly and with recent developments allowing more business to open up I feel those numbers will go significantly in the next few weeks. My opinion is that it is a huge mistake on the part of the state govt to loosen restrictions. Not based on media reports, but because I feel I understand how
  7. Its Circle 10.... Texas They are going to put 6 people to a table in the dining hall instead of 10 as well as take temp checks. Oh, and hand sanitizer.
  8. It is a council camp, and I was assured of the 100% safety after I expressed my concerns and I have no intention of attending this year. Certainly not in June.
  9. I have received 100% confidence from camp staff that our Resident Camp June 7 will be safe. Yes, 100% 🙄
  10. If they will just let us still have meetings I am thinking about using the At Home Cub Scout Day Camp material our Council is offering for the Pack. That way we can maybe work on the stuff together and if when August comes they can head out to the local camp for the day offering for BBs, Archery, Swimming, etc...
  11. I have been helping my Bear with the friendship knot. For the 5K today we both wore out neckerchiefs with the friendship knot instead of a slide. I kinda like not messing with a slide, so... I was already thinking today we might be done with slides. Edit: More formal events I might still wear a slide.
  12. This evening our Council had a Zoom meeting dealing with how our Cub Day Camp is going to work. Its different, but sounds encouraging. 1) They made it clear that Day Camp is not cancelled. 2) There is a going to be a program sent to participants based on age / rank. Apparently the rank program will be elective based. The materials needed will be common stuff people have at home. The cost will be $5 pretty much for a patch. 3) There will be a series of dates available beginning in mid June at council owned camps only. (In past years it was not uncommon for day camp to be
  13. Texas Gov pretty much told the state to go do your thing today. About May 15 we may be seeing a nice big spike in cases.
  14. I was thinking today... I really wish National would make the unpopular call to cancel all camps for this Summer. Let us start small and get back to having meetings first, preferably outside and by Den or Patrol. Let us camp on our own this Summer and stay away from other people. I know it sucks for people counting on the big shebangs, but that is just the way it has to be sometimes.
  15. Remember, I am talking Webelos, followed by Cub Resident Camp. All Scouts will have a parent/grandparent/whatever with them Scouts carrying the food for their entire table back to the table. People touching water jugs all day to fill their bottles. Yes, temp checks at check-in I am assuming. But that is useless for people that are asymptomatic and spreading cooties all over for the session
  16. We (my son and I) have Webelos resident camp the first week of June. It will be kids/parents from all over the DFW metroplex. Right now I am 95% leaning toward not going. They are going to be doing temp checks and sitting 6 people to a table in the dining hall instead of 10. 🙄
  17. I am involved with the Cub Program so I am watching Webelos and Cub Resident Camp. I am not sure how the various Summer Camps operate, but one slide from a meeting recently dealth with changes to the dining hall. They are suggesting 6 people to a table instead of 10. Its still a dining hall full of people and I don't see how's it going to be a good idea. And, I am scheduled to be there the first week of June.
  18. I took BALOO/IOLS last year and it was kind of a waste of time. I probably should do it again when the world returns
  19. When I was 12 as a Scout I had one of those egg crate pads on a wooden pallet, (we could see the shiny spider eyes through the boards under us). I will be 46 this year and I can't sleep like that anymore.
  20. See, no one ever told me it was going to be one hour per week PER scout, and now I am learning you have to blow up a self inflating mattress and store it with the valve open. What other important information has been withheld???
  21. I might be stupid!!! We had a Council "Camp-In" this weekend. We all camped at home, did Scout things during the day, and shared on the Council FB page what we did. Anyway, last night was another miserable night. Waking up every so often hurting. I have been opening the valve on my sleeping pad and throwing it in the tent to inflate while I do other stuff. Never been much of a pad. I decided to get out in the house tonight and open the valve and just watch it. It wasn't doing a lot. I fished the instructions out of the bag and it said to blow on the valve to desired firmness. Well, n
  22. I think it could be worse than that. If an outbreak occurs as a result of Scouts going to camp this summer it could be the dirt thrown on the coffin of the BSA.
  23. Where does rock and fossil collecting fall within Leave No Trace? Exhibit A: 4. Leave What You Find Allow others a sense of discovery, and preserve the past. Leave rocks, plants, animals, archaeological artifacts, and other objects as you find them. Examine but do not touch cultural or historical structures and artifacts. It may be illegal to remove artifacts. Exhibit B: (5) Collect 10 different fossil plants or animals OR (with your counselor’s assistance) identify 15 different fossil plants or animals. Record in a notebook where you obtained (found, bought,
  24. We have Cub Day Camp June 5th and Resident Camp (our session starts June 7th) running through June / July. I personally don't see it happening, and personally I am not sure if I am going to be ready to go spend half a week with people I don't know where they have been and crowding in the dining hall 3 times a day. Not just yet anyway.
