I am dong MUCH better for me lately. Today I had the confidence in myself to step down from CM and DL because I am not doing to deal with the stress of of the CC any longer. Sick of the crap. I am going to be a parent for my son while he works on AOL. Its gonna be great!!!!

I sometimes sit and wonder where National ends and Council begins when they happen to office it the same city.

LCs can't publicly mention anything is wrong due to directive from National. OR LCs are still in the denial stage of grieving OR If LCs start publicly distributing information about the severity of what is going on current families start jumping ship AND recruitment in the fall is DOA. I think 3 is the biggie.

Wondering how they are going to verify if an individual was even in Scouts when the incident occurred. I found my BSA ID from when I was a Youth and contacted the Council registrar to see if my IDs could be merged, just because.. I guess. Anyway, they told me they didnt retain any records from even the 80s, so there was no way.

My now Webelos Scout probably will not do well that first year in a Troop. Unless something major happens in the next year he wont be ready psychologically. He is the kind of kid that still wants to cuddle with us on the couch, or even occasionally wants one of us to lie down with him to go to sleep. Sending him out to camp in the dark with no parents will make the boy's cheese slide off his cracker I fear.

I joined Cub Scouts as a Wolf in the 82/83 school year. I couldnt tell you if we had Tigers or not. I know I was never a Tiger. As current CM, I am not sure I see much point in Lions/Tigers. I think Wolf would be a good starting point.

Good, bad, or neutral for the Unit. Do I still need to make big recruiting plans for August / September? Do I need to think about how I tell elementary school kids they can't do Scouts anymore or can that hold off for a while after these new developments? So on and so forth.

I am just trying to figure out if what happened yesterday is Good. Bad. Neutral.

I am relieved the dangers of paint rollers has been recognized. Especially those with extensions.

My Council has 4 camps, but the one most local to me seems like a good model. It is a lease on Corps of Engineers property. Only thing the Council owns is infrastructure on the property. Seems if a deal could be made with the Fed Govt to use other such lands, the cost would be much less to the Councils.

I apologize for being dense, If National can't pull this off and ceases operation does that mean for sure OR its possible that LC must also cease even if they are still above water? I ask because when I try to have this conversation with people, they firstly roll their eyes. Then they tell me its ok because "Council *" has a lot of money and we will just keep on without National like nothing happened.

So, I was "What Ifing" in my head earlier today. In another thread there was discussion about where money goes if a Unit ceases to exist. To the CO or to the Council. I think it was shown after Unit obligations were taken care of and money raised for Scouting goes to the Council. IF National is liquidated and its found that LCs are on the hook as well and they for all intents and purposes are dissolved, Can that mean they start calling on Units, all of them, to empty their accounts and send it in?

My council is not part of the Ad Hoc committee. They are going it alone it seems. My council has a several hundred claimants on what was released the other day. Could me more, could be less. who knows. Its my understanding my council is ok moneywise, but once again who knows how far that goes.

I was asking my Webelos aged son yesterday what games they play in PE at school so I would have some Den Meeting ideas. He asked me if they could play Dodgeball. Of course I had to explain that it wasn't allowed in Scouts even if they can do it at school. He then proceeded to ask if "Scouts" want them to have fun or just take our money.

BSA is not the place to not "Toe the Line" National, Council, District, SOME people with certain color neckerchiefs. Disagree and you might get ignored. You might get the Scout Law thrown back at you for not being "Obedient" You might occasionally get some traction. Right now for instance, the BSA is like being on the Titanic. Anything bankruptcy related, you get the line everything is fine and dandy, go back to the party, all the while the bow of the ship is rising out of the water and band plays on.

Yeah, COs are supposed to "approve" adults. I have taken new DL apps and or new committee member apps to our COR and he will sign it for me right there on the front porch of his house. Other times the DE insists on signing adult apps. I don't believe for a minute there is any "approval" that goes on aside from its a new number to put in the adult volunteer column. And its only taken me 4 years as a leader to get this cynical.

I know its a long shot, but I would like for it all to hang on till Nov or Dec. I would like to get my current Webelos Den through Arrow of Light.

Is BSA really out of money in July as they said last year? Or was that a lie, a bluff, or did they find money in the couch cushions? They are indicating they hope to resolved things by this Fall now.
