A cub scout Troop..... How very adult led.......While that might seem like a good thing to you...........TO me not so much.

I don't care if my guys wear a hat or not...... I am just happy if their uniform has our unit number on it and their current rank....

Ok, but that still fails to answer the question, If the lad is too involved in extracurriculars at school, too busy to attend a BOR for a Chance at his Eagle.....In my opinion it really doesn't matter to him..... I appreciate the sentiment from the committee........BUT????????

It is all irrelevant anyhow, You said you can't get access to a school auditorium, I have been told no as well. If I can get them to a meeting I can get them to join.

I feel sad for you guys.... I understand why my unit is discriminated against.....We are mostly mud races........ Never seen catholics and protestant and methodist get into it.....Guess in my area we are all poor and that is the great equalizer.

So Richard, Old brews unit has violated the policy.......... so exactly what would have happened if they drowned someone..... Or if a lad gets some teeth knocked out playing lazer tag...... Or an eye put out paint balling?????? Would the BSA wash their hands of it and the unit leads would be on their own?????

Well pretty sure a lad comes up to me and tells me " Oh mr. b I am an atheist"......I will do a few probing questions and ask if he is sure......Ask my committee of 70 year old eagle scouts what they think....Then he will be out on his smart ass. I know the committee god guts and the old USA not in that particular order.

So poor old SM will get blindsided by the atheist cub scout.........He will join the troop and at some point between 12-14 he will decide to speak up at a really bad moment. Such as Summer camp during grace..... See the thread regarding the supreme being........Not that I am a religious fanatic, but this might be the deal breaker for me........ So far, not experienced that one yet.....But I have had a 12 year old tell me he is gay, during the ban period.......

Not sure about your council... But every unit that schedules a float trip is required to file a tour plan or permit. They are required to have a unit leader who has completed Safety afloat and Safe swim defense. I doubt that the pack leadership has the required training and I doubt that your council would have issued a tour plan for the float trip for a Cub Pack. So you gotta ask, are the rumors true if things go bad, am I or the Pack leadership liable... Of course you could do the old family outing and it isn't really a pack event thing. But then that enters the entire when is it a pack event and when isnt it???

We have all heard stories, Do you have any first hand or directly know of a unit or leader that violated teh G2SS and got hung out to dry by council or national.

Sure I do, While standing at the open house night, with Backpacks and tents, some rappelling helmets and crap for show.......Pictures of them shooting rifles and shotguns.... I can't tell you how many times a boy would stop to look and his friends would pull him a long and say scouting is for pussys or it is gay and for whimps. Yep I understand peer pressure

Lots of boys.... Many so buried in the World of War Craft or Black ops they for sake real adventure and friends for virtual ones. They lack the stomach for physical discomfort and stress of being outdoors.

This can't possibly be just a move for money.....Right????? Could it be something as simple as shrinking the Database of members?????? Or even decreasing the number of adults to decrease the liability of an adult member being a child molester....

Nice catch... I know we have a bunch of tiger parents that transitioned to scoutparents still on our charter, just didn't see the point of removing them..... Now that they are gonna cost use $24 a piece.....well they are gone unless they want to become a leader.

Your assuming that everyone has a decent enough internet connection and the associated hardware to make this work. I attend alot of online meetings for work......Now it is tough enough at work.......Imagine the big game is on, diner is cooking, kids running in and out, phone ringing......Well ya get my point.
