  1. Our pack doubled this year! The troop is growing. The parents involvement has been super. The District roundtables have been SRO. There might be doom and gloom in San Francisco, but our organization is rocking. The outdoor program is non-stop. I still smell like a camp fire after the wonderful breakfast of undercooked pancakes, runny scrambled eggs and burned sausage. We had a Grandpa out with us this weekend. He was a Scoutmaster in the 70's. Trail Pounder Motivated, Dedicated, To The Cause.
  2. I'm an Independant like you are! LOL I'm studying to be one of them thar "Free Thinkers" too. BooooYah!
  3. Hops, not all of today's young men are High-Speed, Low-Drag, Motivated Dedicated To The Cause, future Eagle, Silver, Ranger, middle linebackers like you are!!! Did I say congratulations on Star! How's the season going? Pounder
  4. Clark's nickname among those who served under him should give you an idea of the extent of his megalomania. He was referred to as "the Supreme Being." Col. David Hackworth called him the "Ultimate Perfumed Prince" and added "he's far more comfortable in a drawing room discussing political theories than hunkering down in the trenches where bullets fly and soldiers die." Fred Franks was a general. Left part of his leg in Vietnam, continued to serve, commanded VII Corps during Desert I. Clark went to Oxford with Bill Clinton. Jeeeesh!
  5. I, Trail Pounder, vow to begin raising 10 times the money I have raised and have been responsible for raising in the past and donating it to District and Council funds.
  6. I shudder to the very core of my being when I see the letters nambla. When I'm done shuddering, my resolve is firmer and my will is steeled knowing what's out there and knowing we have to stay the course and fight the good fight. Grrrrrrrrr
  7. Dave, a good friend of mine was recently elected to the Red Devil Sports Hall of Fame. What a beautiful little college!
  8. OT, Based on everything I've read, it's just the medal device for that award. P(This message has been edited by Trail Pounder)
  9. A 4 star general is treated better than a Saudi sheik! Mr. Clark's been living like a king for years......I don't think he can hang with the rest of this crowd very long. He'll burn bright for a couple weeks, and then fall right into formation with the rest of those, those dirty dozen, me thinks.
  10. Ok, then we'll probably be canceling each others vote out.
  11. OT, we'll be a cancelin' each others vote out. But, I think I will pull a "D" primary ballot and vote for Dean.
  12. Taking my daughter camping this weekend!!! We have a new tent!(This message has been edited by Trail Pounder)
  13. Sexist? How ridiculous. I read your post and if anything is sexist it would be your posts talking about "trying harder to be equal with the boys" and "a pretty big accomplishment for girls". I'll be a un-PC doubting Thomas until I see it with my own eyes, but your own statements tell me you don't believe a lick of what you said.
  14. Has anyone used the movies "Apollo 13" or "Gettysburg" as a tool? The videos are stopped after certain scenes and reflected upon.
  15. I absolutely love the idea of a co-ed crew. If ever the time comes, I will quickly remind myself that you folks were correct and not just spouting politically correctness at me. In your absence I will give myself 3 or 4 zingers about "I told you so, I told you so!" I'm from Missouri. But, tell me, are we meeting the requirements for the backpacking elective by going 3 days, 2 nights and travelling not less than 15 miles? 7.5 miles each day, with food, water, tentage, sleeping bag, clothes, and other gear? Pounder
  16. you Scouters who don't recognize the bit about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor are now on "Double Secret Probation".
  17. With all the mistakes I'm making trying to get this program to go, I guess it's a good thing that this forum makes me anonymous! William Johansen Venturing Crew 821 Butte, Montana
  18. "Germans?" "Don't stop him, he's on a roll!"
  19. Our crew chose, in their by-laws, to wear the square knots on their Spruce Green uniform shirts. Eagle, AOL, Silver, Religious. Looks pretty sharp. I wouldn't have minded a bit if a kid wanted to wear his Eagle badge until he turned 21, but the by-law committee has spoken!
