  1. Bob, is that what you read into that, that I was blaming a church for not completing the last requirement? I'm not blaming any church, heck Bob, I'm not blaming anybody. I'm just saying this happened to me and with all the resources I have, it sure doesn't happen to any other motivated dedicated young scout. All I have to do is ask a question on this forum, throw it out there to you and the Smart Fat Guy, let you two battle it out for two weeks and I'll sure have enough info to form an answer on any subject in the scouting world! 2. Matua, I'm sorry I missed your post or I would have answered earlier. Are you doing any VLSC or JLT activities? If so, the Coast Guard has a downloadable leadership manual that could be modified to use on your cruise. Pounder
  3. OGE Sr, My friend in Trail Pounder's World, we take Red White and Blue pills, which are vitamin supplements that assist in pounding trails and keeping a better sight picture!!! Pounder
  4. This kind of hits home. I had a Scoutmaster who had an outing every month, almost religiously. He wasn't strong on the advancement program or anything else in the books. I made it to Life, had 36 merit badges, served as SPL for 2 years, had a great idea for a leadership project, had letter from Scoutmaster, letter from School Principal, but not from my religious leader. I didn't go to church. My folks didn't go. My dad said pick one and start going. My thoughts at the time were that to go to church with the ulterior motive of getting a letter for Eagle Scout would be so phoney, fake, an
  5. A Venturing Adult Leader Roundtable in Trail Pounder's world would not include the youth. How else could advisors and old scouters get together and plot against the teen leadership? To do the other, I would entitle the gathering the "Venturing Youth Roundtable, Venturing Teen Roundtable, Youth Officer's Call, Crew Officer's Call, or something similiar. Trail Pounder's World is pretty simple. There are 10 rings to be shot out and there are trails to be pounded.
  6. Jim, As for the Roundtables. Roundtables are for adult leaders to go and gab. If you want the youth involved, name it something other then roundtable. Pounder
  7. OGE Jr, 3 am! LOL I accompanied a party of 9 this past weekend to our crew's first 15 mile backpacking trip. It was up and down hills and the trails consisted almost entirely of 4 inch deep loose sand. I have a blister on each of my little toes to prove it. After a 9 mile Saturday over and over and over sand hills, my crew was entirely racked out between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. No need for any curfew here. Pounder
  8. It's the advisor's mission in life to create "youth-led" crews. How do these old time scouters interfere in your leadership efforts and why is it harder to lead if your leaders are female?
  9. Crewgirl, and where in Iowa is this community located that has the large population of homosexuals that were dropped from a Council? Did you keep that letter? Could you post it for us here? I'd like to read it.
  10. At tonight's meeting, right after the Pledge of Allegiance, our agenda now says "Troop Prayer" led by ASPL. I think I'll add a short addendum to the ASPL's prayer. The example the boys will see is me, the man who takes them camping, the man who takes them hiking, the man who goes to their church, the man who works on merit badges with them, the man their parents entrust them to, and I'm going to say a prayer asking God to work harder on those atheists out amongst us, so that they might find the light. That's the example a dozen or so boys will see tonight.
  11. DS. Thanks for the great answer. I just put my first $100 bucks into an envelope. 9 more times and I'll give it to the council. If I wanted to send money to Philly, that certainly wouldn't be a problem for my local council would it? Did you get my PM's?
  12. Saddam won't be running for President this year, he's just running.....
  13. Where does the money from this endowment go? Is it held in the councils? Does it come back to the councils? Thanks for any info.

  15. Phil, I don't think you're real. I think you're a homosexual activist, pushing the agenda by toying with this thread. My computers blah blah meter started sounding after your first post. If you really have a son, do you honestly think that not being a den leader could disappoint him any more than having dad dump Him and Mom, so you could marry up with Uncle Bruce? I don't buy any of this.
  16. You asked about what kind of Council support we got. That was my attempt at a humorous answer. So....what you're really saying is, I wasn't communicating effectively and my sense of humor really isn't as funny as I think it is. Would that be accurate?
  17. What I think we're going to do is, sign up and attend at a VLSC given up in the big city or one of its big suburbs. Our Pres and VP want to go and I will sign up to help out wherever I can.
  18. Let me answer the original question of OGE's..... "Council support, what's a coucil?"
  19. Hops, 3 Position 10 Meter Air Rifle. 20 shots prone, 20 shots kneeling, and 20 shots standing. The 10 Ring is this size o. We had our first female shooter show up tonight. I heard a vehicle pull up and asked who's there, one of my shooters says, "A girl, and she has her own gun!" I hope she stays. I could see the guys taking their time with their shots and being more polite than normal with each other and her. We're going backpacking with a party of 9 next weekend. Can't wait!
  20. Congratulations on your accomplishment OGE. I'll be finished Oct 17. We'll talk. Went camping with the youngsters last night! Heading for Rifle Team right now. Ramping up for the winter tourneys. We need to "clean" more targets!!! Pounder
