  1. TAHAWK, I'm with you on the PC requirements of a fair trial, but it sure complicates the future. Let's say we have a Gay suing a Baptist, or vice versa. We obviously need 6 gay jurors and 6 Baptist jurors, but what do we do about the judge? Can a Gay Baptist judge be found? Or do we settle for a Happy Hindu?
  2. RedNeck in south Georgia referred to whites who worked the fields alongside 'darkies' (PC term would be African-Americans) and got sunburned on the backs of their necks. I did that for many summers in grammar school and high school; hoeing peanuts, cotton and corn. I'm proud to be a RedNeck. Traits of that social group include an affinity for manual labor, hunting, good Southern manners, beer, trucks and country music. (FWIW - I've a few African American friends who don't mind being lumped in with us RedNecks.) Long-haired (to the point of blocking any sun from your neck), dirty, profane, lazy and rude are traits of 'white trash'. Today many people fail to make the distinction and lump all groups who are not elite suburbanites into a 'RedNeck' catchall. I married a Chicago native who faints when I tell her friends that I'm a proud RedNeck, which her friends associate with 'the southside' and White Sox fans...
  3. They are doing their children no favors.
  4. The guiding principle is "No One-on-One Contact". One adult and two scouts in a car is okay.
  5. Your sons should be more important than the troop. Go where they will have the best scouting career.
  6. Rick: First, you really should try reading the articles you link. FoxNews apologized for saying that 'no-go zone' was an official designation. As TAHAWK has so thoroughly pointed out from multiple sources (chief among them CNN - your quoted source), unofficial and so-called no-go zones are quite prevalent. Second, when you look for a credible source to criticize a news outlet, relying on information from a competitor who is loosing their lunch money to FoxNews is laughable. The saddest part is that you actually think that you are winning.
  7. If the country keeps heading in the direction it's going, eventually a person will have to be short minority gay female of undetermined religion in order to qualify as any government official.
  8. Could somebody with more knowledge of Islam than I help me out here? Do female Jihadis get 72 virgins when they blow themselves up?
  9. Rick: you need to use credible sources if you want to be taken seriously. At least read the articles you choose to link. http://www.salon.com/2013/01/11/scientists_hate_the_gop_for_a_reason/?utm_source=huffpost_politics&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pubexchange_article The high points: 1- 56% of the AAAS self-identify as Democrats. 2- AAAS is a liberal lobbying group for the Democratic agenda. http://www.aaas.org/about-aaas 3-"I would wager that the partisan affiliation of scientists in the US military, in the energy , pharmaceutical and finance industries would look starkly different than that of AAAS." http://rogerpielkejr.blogspot.com/2010/12/political-afilliations-of-scientists.html 4- Hint: More than 95% of the DNC will not be Republican either...
  10. 99 - Are you able get up off the floor and see your keyboard yet?. (as in ROFLMAO) Thanks for the humor.
  11. I'm disappointed. So many ostriches.. Simple questions: 1- Which religions are expanding? Shrinking? 2- What state sponsored religion kills you if you drop out? 3 - What state sponsored religion requires women to cover themselves? 4 - What state sponsored religion punishes women with death if they are raped? 5 - What state sponsored religion doesn't allow women to attend school? 6 - Stones gays? 7 - Advocates conversion, slavery or death for all humans that are not members? 8 - In recent history, what state sponsored religion has exterminated another religion in that state? 9 - What religion promises heaven if you die killing an infidel? 10 - What state religion administers 1000 lashes if you criticize their clerics? Solving this is going to be a three step process: 3 - Moderate Muslims are going to have to control radical Muslims. Moderates have a better shot at peacefully convincing radicals to back off. Christians can't win an argument with radicals who are highly motivated to kill us. 2 - But first Christianity has to convince Islamic moderates that radicalism will eventually be resisted by stronger methods than complaining. So far Islam is doing just great with the help of Christian cheek-turning. 1 - But even before that, non-Islamic people (Atheists too, Merlyn) are going to have to be convinced that Islam is coming. Is beheading 'nothing personal' if it's on YouTube?
  12. Well that didn't take long: [h=1]Duke University Cancels Plans For Muslim Call To Prayer[/h] http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2015/01/15/muslim-prayer-duke Apparently some wealthy donors to Duke's endowment failed to tolerate the double standard.
  13. You can't blame it on the Constitution. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Current government policy seems to pretty well do exactly the opposite of what was originally written. Politicians. (Hopefully someone will flag this post for obscene language: I wrote 'politician'.)
  14. Duke University is going to start broadcasting the Muslim call to prayer. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/01/15/us/duke-call-to-prayer/index.html But Christians in US public schools are forbidden from saying a blessing at meals or praying in the morning. (Moment of silence...) A minute of silence to yourself vs. 3 minutes of prayer broadcast over the whole campus/town. Anybody see a double standard here? Or is this also not 'reality'?
  15. As a baseline, many summer camp staffers teaching a merit badge are being assigned their area and given the book to study the day before they are teaching. If it's a good book, it works. Otherwise...
  16. Does anyone have the right to not be offended? Where do I get one?
  17. Sentinel, we're good. You've allowed the main points of discussion to be bandied about; thank you. I'm still digesting the input. (My bias has an open mind.) I apologize if I got a little feisty about deleting too much. Somebody flagged me, huh? Well... At least they didn't come busting into my office with guns blazing, like the guys in Charlie Hebdo. Do they have concealed carry permits in Paris?
  18. Hold up a second. Are radical jihadist truly 'martyrs'? If the radical clerics are correctly interpreting the Koran and getting ones self killed for Allah earns one 72 virgins in heaven, then they are 'martyrs'; and we have ourselves an undeclared religious war. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and atheists had better start doing more than just offending Muslims. But if Islam is truly 'A religion of peace', then those radical clerics are twisting the Koran for their own agendas and misleading their followers. Those folks are disgracing Allah, who probably is not worried at all about offending them when he denies the 72 virgins, etc. Those dead jihadis are not martyrs, they're just thugs who deserve nothing more than worm food. ++++++ Which brings us back to my original question: Will threatening to bury dead Radical Islamic Terrorists in pigskin have a negative impact on their ability to recruit and motivate suicide attackers?
  19. Thanks for your input. McVeigh wasn't using a religion to justify his derangement, so I'm not following your point. A valid criticism. The double standard is driving me berserk. NYT edits out a woman's quote about the shooter telling her to convert to Islam, read the Koran, and cover herself. Taxpayers build foot-baths for Muslim taxi drivers at the Minneapolis airport, but we have to take down the ten commandments and stop saying 'Merry Christmas'. Etc.
  20. Uh, no. They were not surprised. Charlie Hebdo was firebombed in 2012. The presence of police guards at Charlie Hebdo attests to their being prepared for radicals doing something stupid. Charlie Hebdo choose to not be terrorized. You? (Man! I can't believe I'm extolling French bravery!) http://www.wsj.com/articles/charlie-hebdo-staff-rush-to-prepare-post-attack-edition-1421076776?tesla=y&mg=reno64-wsj
