"Mine is currently flying from a homemade pole lashed together! Long may she wave!" Sounds cool!!

When it comes to flag patches on uniforms, there is NO "right" or "wrong" way. If there is, please reference me to it in the US Flag Code... you wont be able to because I read through the Flag Code just before I typed this. ""If the flag is made in the USA, it will be legal unless homemade." That's a new one. Where did you get that?" Well, lets think about this, if it is made in the USA, for the USA, what would be the point of making the flag illegal?

I'm tired of seeing these kinds of threads... so I'll put it this way.... If the flag is made in the USA, it will be legal unless homemade. The flag code states that it is up to the discrection of the organization to decide which sleeve the flag is on and which side the blue field is on.

Showing respect to kids -- how to teach kids to show respect
hops_scout replied to Laurie's topic in Working with Kids
At scouts, for the most part, the leaders are Mr. or Mrs. except for a select few who dont care/ prefer being called by first name. Many leaders also call the scouts by Mr. lastname, etc but it just kind of depends. -
In there now.

Laura, I agree with what you are saying about it being a popularity contest..... This summer when we had to elect the boys to be called out for OA. Well, we had 8 boys I believe who were eligible. Seven got chosen while I believe only three of them should have been and the one who wasnt chosen should have as well. We'll call him "Joe". So Joe was terribly upset, totally understandable. He almost completed Eagle, is a troop guide, and tries usually do get the job done right as quickly as possible. He is one who gets picked on a lot, beat up, etc and that is the reason he didnt make it. Others, who shouldnt have, did because most of the troop likes them.

1st- Welcome, hope you enjoy it and can be of help to others on the board as many will be lots of help to you. I'm gonna say it from a Scout's point of view. I think a good Scoutermaster has to push the patrol method. We didnt do so until this summer at camp. It works a lot better than not in my opinion. It sounds like your troop is about the size of mine. We have four patrols of each of about 8. Our new scout patrol has two troop guides. Encourage advancement, but dont push it. If they dont want to advance, oh well. Our troop usually advances quickly. BTW-- We have had 6 Eagles so far this year and may have as many as 3 or 4 more still. -
I'll try..... ---First summer camp when it poured for two and a half days, but our fire kept going strong. ---fall canoe trip with just a fleece sleeping bag and soacked jeans:) ---color guard at age 10 for high school basketball game:) ---Summer Camp this year doing our own cooking, climbing merit badge:), and rifle shooting for the first time ---getting called out at the OA call out this year --- be looked up to by Cub Scouts at Day Camp:) I guess that is all for now. More to come at later day

OGE, did you go MIA on me??
-
Orginal question..... the flag code does not state which way the flag is on the uniform.
-
"USUALLY" I didnt say they always wear the same. I said they usually do. You're right, they do have several different uniforms. Let's see Woodland 3 color Desert 6 color Desert Urban Along with their Class B and Class A's. And if you would actually read the board outside the box... you might pick up the fact that I'm 14 therefor I wouldnt say "US" and refer to the US Air Force.

The First Admentment is more of a freedom of expression... not just speech or press. It basicly means you can do what you want to a certain extent. At least that is the way I think my Civics teacher said it.

Looking for reports of your recent high adventure trips
hops_scout replied to hops_scout's topic in Camping & High Adventure
Sounds good.... I dont really mean a trip for a week or more carrying everything you need with your own strength like backpacking, canoeing, etc Right now, I am looking for reports of recent trips other than basic camping... Though, I could use information about the campsite such as location, price, etc for the camping and hiking page. -
WOW... sorry, but if you could please think about this one. The Army all wear the same uniform usually, even if in a computer lab. Boy Scouts should all wear the uniform too.:) Did you get the connection now?? Or do I need to explain it a little bit more??:)

Sounds good Laura, should be up later today. -
Yes, true, FOG, but that costs the tax payer more money because they still have to be in some kind of uniform therefore the government has to spend money to research it, decide on it, make it, and provide it to them. Besides, you wouldnt want us to wear a different uniform than what your troop wears would you?
-
It is "THE UTILITY" uniform..... That means it is worn for more than just one reason....
