  1. " The answer is quit using FF and use IE " I'll quit using the web before I use IE.
  2. We use godaddy.com Great service and price. Phone support is based in the USA!
  3. Never ask a room full of folks for one volunteer. find one person and ask them. If they take it great, it not, at lease they have to say no rather than just sitting there in the crowd hiding.
  4. How about a "fit scouter" patch... not required but available and well defined.
  5. If this is a boy run program then why are the adults changing the light bulbs?
  6. With the scouts in the car it would have to be life or death for me to stop. Gloves and mask in the car, cell phone in pocket. Alone, I'll stop for just about anything.
  7. " Can an Assistant Scoutmaster sit on an EBOR? " From your other post above I'll take this as attend rather than sit... In which case - (IMHO) a SM may ask his Assistant to fill in to any thing that the SM wants.
  8. Yes, why do you ask? (grin)
  9. Don't we have "no dumping" laws here in CT?
  10. Oops, I thought the question when why not when... Our camp does it as you leave camp.
  11. I can think of a bunch of reasons. It allows units "first dibs" on their site for next year. The sooner units sign up the sooner the camp can start planning for opening new or closing old sites. And maybe most of all, it keeps units from getting lost. Even if the SM changes, chances are if the old SM signed the troop up the new SM will get the scouts to camp next year.

    Neckerchiefs

Before you invest in fabric, show a sample to your screen printer. Most now use heat cured inks and it takes some skill to cure them on anything but cotton.
  13. I ask MC's to either to always wear it when ever scouts are involved or never wear it. Makes it hard on the SM (and ASMs) if MC's show up and pick and choose when to wear it. As for myself (CC) I wear mine whenever I am at a uniformed event. (including driving to and from camp) As for committee meetings, only if we are holding a BOR.
  14. Wow, that's a wide open question... and I'll let others fill in the how to run a pack part of it... I'll start with the REQUIRED to be a scouter... First, read, know and live by the Guide to Safe Scouting ( http://www.scouting.org/pubs/gss/ ) (click on "on-line" to read it). Second, take the online youth protection training at found at http://olc.scouting.org/ (you are required to take it with in 90 days of signing up with the pack but take it now). After taking the above steps, stick to your guns. Don't let anyone tell you these rules are optional, they are not they MUST be followed both to the letter and in spirit. The second link above also has lots of other great training.
  15. Just like the Dem's are about to find out in '08, you elect it, you live with it.
  16. http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=52118&in_page_id=2 A bear has been scared off by a little Girl Scout. The bear tried to pull the girl out of her tent during a camping trip. But he did not reckon on her knowing her 'bear education'. Celeste Tietz, 11, grabbed a tent pole and slid out of her sleeping bag as the bear was tugging at her at Camp Mosey Wood. She said: "Something started pulling me towards the front of my tent and tried to pull me out." The Girl Scout, from New Jersey, and the other girls in the tent screamed for help. Adults then loaded the girls, about 15 of them, into a van and took them to the camp's mess hall. Ann Meredith, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, said the camp will not allow girls to sleep in tents this coming weekend or the following weekend. Campers and adult leaders get bear education when they register for camp, she said. "Bears are a fact of life," Meredith said. "We're living in their habitat."
  17. LB: Sorry, I should have known you'd do the right thing.
  18. Test it in the back yard under a hose rather than waiting for a wet night at camp.
  19. "some guy in the back of the room, whom no one could identify - he didn't approach anyone either but that's how I found out who he was)." and "If we ever really had a problem" If the troop lets some guy stand in the back of the room and doesn't approch him I'd say you do realy have a problem.
  20. I earned a few of them back in the late seventies. They did away with them soon after. Havn't heard any word of them bringing them back. I'd support the idea.
  21. I'm Brian and so's me wife... Pack378, I'm with Beav on this one about holding your temper and being "kind, courteous, and understanding"... Let them know that you'd like to give them a chance to make it up to the boys and see what they do next... On the other hand, if that fails, pull out all the stops, hit the mayor's office, the local paper and TV.
  22. GB, I wouldn't acuse them of lieing however I wouldn't be suprised if they included fixed cost in the total. Cost that would have been there even if the fire truck had never left the fire house.
