  1. Welcome, @AmberG! Thanks for the post, and for reviving an old thread. Trust is extremely important. It is earned, and can be easily lost through inconsiderate acts.

  2. Article is now posted on official BSA scouting newsroom site (link below). Apparently, the BSA sent this important press release to Globe NewsWire earlier which Google Search found first posted at a Chinese (Hong Kong) news website and then later on Yahoo Financial where I linked and backtracked to authenticate. Odd to me. 4. Fine lines exist on how to challenge young people, or even adults. Many, likely most, would not be damaged by once common stunts like the snipe hunt. But, in the modern era, too many youth are unprepared for even a small amount of teasing, and too many parents overreact to it when it occurs. Society will not protect us from our own mental challenges and fears. Care needs to be taken, but much of that is the so called responsible adult being aware if someone is showing stress and removing them from the focus at a minimum, and maybe reviewing things with other adults and even the youth. 6. So I guess the DE would need to be actually visible in the district, maybe make an effort to get to know the units, and not be an arrogant and condescending person in communications with units.

  7. My mother was SIX when my scout master grandfather sniped her. He left her in the woods in the DARK with no flashlight with a bag and told her to catch the big white bird. She wasn't scared at first, but after about 15 minutes she was terrified. She knew her way back to the camp, but not in the dark. He got in trouble with the wife for that, and the wife told my mother to get him back. So one day she jumped out and scared him. He dropped the trash bag, and remained angry the rest of the day at her. My mother never, I repeat, she never did it again to him. Isn't that so hypocritical? S
