Spell checker in browsers.

Grammar and spell checkers are increasingly more configurable (language, vendor) either in browsers or keyboards via plugins or apps. Still even with spelling and grammar correct, I have been known to send the wrong message. -
Significant Cultural Changes are Coming Soon
RememberSchiff replied to Cburkhardt's topic in Issues & Politics
In previous years, the Spirit of Adventure Council (Boston/Eastern Mass) offered an Adventure Card ($30) to scouts and their families as a fundraiser for Council and money-saver for scouts. However at registration this year, scouts are required to purchase a more expensive Adventure Card ($48) which IMHO has less value as stated discounts are for activities or venues closed by covid. -
Every scout/scouter is a swimmer but not necessarily a spellr. Some of you may have a browser (Firefox, Brave, Chrome,...) without spell check selected. Firefox: Select the “Menu” button (3 horizontal bars) located at the upper-right corner of the screen, then choose “Options“. Scroll to the “Language” section. Select “Check my spelling as I type” if you want to turn spell checker on. Uncheck it if you wish to have it off. Brave: Select the “Menu” button (3 horizontal bars) located at the upper-right corner of the screen, then choose “Settings“. Scroll to the “Additional settings" and expand. Scroll down to Languages and left click Slide Spell Check switch on left (ON). Chrome: source https://support.luminello.com/article/1090-how-does-spell-checker-work-in-each-browser 1. Launch the Chrome browser, click on the vertical ellipses to open the menu and choose Settings from there. Alternatively, you can also type chrome://settings in the address bar and press Enter. 2. On the settings screen type languages in the search box to locate the language settings. 3. Click on Language to expand the options and then click on Add languages. Add Language for Spell Check in Chrome. 4. In the list that opens up, choose the languages that you want to add in Chrome browser. You can use the search box to find your languages. Click on the Add button to add those languages. Add Language for Spell Check in Chrome 5. Type chrome://settings in the address bar and press Enter. This will open the Chrome settings screen once again removing the filters applied by the search box. 6. In the search box, type spell checks to find spell check related settings. 7. Click on Spell Check to expand the options and toggle the spell check support for the languages displayed in the list.Add Language for Spell Check in Chrome That’s it. Now your Chrome browser is going to perform a spell check as you type in any of those languages. Hope this helps.

You did not need img tags. See if this tutorial helps -
Copy Image By Location Say you are on a webpage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_Scouts_of_America and you want to copy an image on that page to your scouter.com post, try this 1. Move mouse over image, in this case the three familiar fellows. 2. Right click mouse and a dropdown menu appears. 3. With mouse scroll down the dropdown menu, stop on Copy Image Location selection and left click mouse. This copies the URL address to your clipboard. 4. Now move mouse pointer to your scouter.com post that you are creating/editing. Press left mouse button where you want image, and on keyboard hold-down CTRL key and press V. The image URL address will briefly appear but will soon the image will be uploaded from its source. Like below. There are other ways to do this but this works for me. Note in using this method, the image is linked back to its source page so it will be current well unless source deletes image or page ...oops.

Help me brainstorm some auxiliary unofficial Pinewood Derby awards
RememberSchiff replied to Liz's topic in Cub Scouts
Read this story regarding Veterans serving a Rockland, Maine Cub Scout Pack back in the day There was one thing that used to irritate me no end. Each spring, the boys and their parents would build official Pinewood Derby cars, little wooden things on wheels we would then race on a track we stored at the Congregational Church. The idea was to produce a few top racers who would go to the annual Council Pinewood Derby races, a process normally achieved by the standard method of eliminating boys whose cars lost in each heat. This tended to produce increasing numbers of boys and parents who were no longer involved and instead had to hang around the church hall for ages, waiting for the winners to be determined. All that effort and yet so little involvement, is how I saw it. I asked the Pack committee to agree to new rules. Each boy could race his car as often as he cared to, and would accumulate stickers that we stuck underneath the cars to show how many first, second and third places each car achieved. When we all had enough and decided to call it a day, we simply counted up the number of stickers showing first place wins on each car, and the three top first-placers were declared our Pack winners. At least it kept all the boys engaged through the entire event, rather than kicking them out altogether. ... My time with the Rockland Cubs taught me a lot about how people can get things done when they work together thoughtfully, whether they are vets or not, and certainly regardless of their politics. How much things seem to be diminished today, when I think back to my time with of a bunch of Rockland-area parents back in the 90s who simply agreed to do their best for their boys, the community of youngsters who are now the not-so-very-young adults all around us. We blundered, we bumbled, we still got things done. It sure didn’t hurt that we happened to have a few good vets sprinkled among our numbers. A large number of lawsuits are filed against drunk drivers for personal liability. Should a blanket no driving policy be applied to all adults? Is the problem driving or the drunk driver? Touching children is not fundamental to what we do? Touching is often part of the Show in teaching skills which require a certain grip or body position such as wrapping a bandage, holding a leg for splinting, whittling with a knife, drawing a bow, shooting a rifle. Form and technique. No high-five or a pat on the back from an adult leader? All positive feedback will be just verbal? Would you tell a parent no touching their child in Scouting...well unless it is an emergency? Good luck with Family Scouting. Perhaps just drop the scout handshake and declare a joint health and cultural change victory. My $0.02, -

The Tort Claimants Committee (TCC) seeks to quickly employ and retain CBRE, an experienced real estate advisor to assist in estimating the value of the Real Properties2 held by the Local Councils. The value of the Real Properties will help determine the Local Council’s contribution towards a victims compensation trust to receive the benefit of a channeling injunction under a plan. The TCC will need the valuations to engage in plan negotiations and mediation currently taking place in these Cases. The TCC has determined that CBRE is the best and most cost effective real estate advisor to perform the services contemplated by the Application. https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/864386_1786.pdf https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/864539_1793.pdf https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/864572_1796.pdf

Major Change in Chartered Organization Relationship

National wants more Local properties evaluated and are seeking to retain JLL Valuation & Advisory Service. The list of properties remains to be specified. The following paragraphs are extracted from Dec 1, dockets 1762 and 1763. Note links below. To carry out its Scouting programs, the BSA has granted charters to 253 local councils, each of which operates in a specific geographic area (collectively, “Local Councils”). Each of the Local Councils is separately incorporated under the non-profit laws of its respective state, is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and has an independent board of directors and senior management. The Local Councils are neither subsidiaries nor affiliates of the BSA and none of the Local Councils are debtors in these chapter 11 cases. doc 1762 page 3,4 As the Court is aware, the Debtors and their stakeholders are currently engaged in mediated negotiations regarding a chapter 11 plan of reorganization that provides for a global resolution of claims related to abuse in Scouting. The Mediators, in consultation with the Debtors, have set a fast-paced schedule for negotiations to take place from mid-November through January 2021. The Mediators and the Mediation Parties are hard at work under tremendous time pressure. The Debtors hope that these negotiations will ultimately address how a potential settlement fund could be funded by the Debtors, Local Councils, and any other contributing parties. Because many Local Councils lack significant unrestricted liquid assets, any contribution from Local Councils in the aggregate may need to include real property and improvements as a component. Local Councils that desire to participate in such a negotiated global resolution may wish to value any real property that they seek to contribute. Accordingly, the Debtors have determined, in consultation with certain of their stakeholders, that appraisals of certain properties owned by non-debtor Local Councils (the “Local Council Properties”) are necessary to facilitate mediated plan negotiations.2 To that end, by this Application, the Debtors are seeking to retain JLL to prepare broker opinions of value of certain Local Council Properties based on analytic assessments that will generally not require physical inspection of such properties. Among other things, these broker opinions of value will provide the Debtors, Local Councils, and other constituents with important information regarding the market value of the Local Council Properties. These opinions will aid any Local Councils that decide to participate in a potential settlement in connection with the Debtors’ chapter 11 plan that also require valuations of certain of their Local Council Properties.3The valuation opinions will not take deed donor restrictions into account. doc 1762 page 4,5 At present, the Debtors estimate that JLL will appraise approximately 300 Local Council Properties, representing fee simple interests in office buildings, campgrounds and certain other properties, including vacant land. JLL has substantial expertise in the areas described above, and if, this Application is approved, will provide services to the Debtors under an order approving this Application. JLL will work closely with the Debtors’ management and professionals throughout the appraisal process. The Debtors will attempt to coordinate with other stakeholders, including the Tort Claimants’ Committee, the Ad Hoc Committee of Local Councils, and individual Local Councils, to identify particular Local Council Properties to appraise. doc 1762 page 6,7 .... The Debtors are aware that other constituents, including the Tort Claimants’ Committee, may also be seeking to retain an appraiser to conduct broker opinions of value of certain Local Council Properties. The Debtors have had preliminary discussions with the Tort Claimants’ Committee regarding the utility of appraising certain Local Council Properties in connection with the plan mediation, and the Debtors and JLL are committed to working collaboratively with any appraiser that might in the future be retained, including by the Tort Claimants’ Committee, to avoid unnecessary duplication of services. doc 1762 page 7 engagementt letter doc 1762 page 23 "Therefore, the Debtors are seeking to retain JLL Valuation & Advisory Services, LLC (“JLL”), to prepare broker opinions of value with respect to certain Local Council properties. These broker opinions of value will provide the Debtors, Local Council and other constituents with important information regarding the market value of the Local Council properties. In order to promptly receive the broker opinions of value and maintain efficient mediated plan negotiations, the Debtors must retain JLL without delay. doc 1763 https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/863786_1762.pdf https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/863788_1763.pdf https://casedocs.omniagentsolutions.com/cmsvol2/pub_47373/863866_1765.pdf <--- order signed by Judge Silverstein

I would add awareness as well. Back in the day, we naturally trusted the Church, Boy Scouts, police. We were not aware as their transgressions were not disclosed by their respective leadership and often not by victims either. Now Little League, Pop Warner (fugetaboutit), and the Y (no pool!, no showers), my father was all over with caution.
