BSA - Need to support American Troops.
red feather replied to k9gold-scout's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Posted similar thread in issues and politics. Our troop is looking into providing support services to local Guard and Reservist families. Doing a Good Turn Daily. Please post successes and sugestions as these families deserve and should recieve our support. KS thanks for the input we are pursuing those avenues as I post. yis -
Looking for your thoughts on a Troop supporting a reservist or guard family when one is called up to serve. Simple things, mowing, snow removal, minor repairs or anything that the family may need that the scouts can provide that will make this time of service easier. Seems to be an example of Doing a Good turn Daily. Our troop is contacting local Guard and Reservist units to find out what we can do to help. yis

Sounds interesting. What brand do you use for this? yis

First, yes, thankfully no one was unjured. I agree with the thermal expansion and possible moisture in an old slab being the cause of the crater. Have seen stream bed rocks do the same thing because of moisture in them, but, this is the first I have heard of concrete. Guess this is why there is a seperate category of brick to be used in fireplaces. Thanks for the heads up. yis

Scoutmom, congrats also and keep on stroking. I agree with ASM1, join the troop and work to modify the program, it can be done, I am involved with a Troop that was not 'with' the scouting ideals (as I understood) as with support and effort we are now the premier scouting troop in the area. Amazing what new ideas and concepts can do. I believe that with your involvement, your son will join you in the trek. yis

Rebuilding a troop - I need advice!
red feather replied to NewScoutLeader's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Good luck and all that. Try to find someone that is willing to be in charge of recruitment, without packs supporting the troop it gets tough. Is there anyone in the troop or committee willing to take on troop finances? Seems that might be the way to go. What is your troop membership and are they acive? yis -
Best wishes and prayers. Please keep us posted. Makes what we do for youth that much more important and personal. yis

Welcome all to 2003! With a new year, time for more and new ideas and tidbits. Bring them on so all can learn and enjoy from the knowledge. Did you know that the typical green can holds 2 cups of water? Experiened scouters and new please post what you have learned through the school of hard knocks or the school of how about that. yis -
Adult vs. Youth Responsibilities
red feather replied to Chippewa29's topic in Open Discussion - Program
We mail the slips out each month and have spares at the departure site. This is with the understanding that is no spare seat belts are available the scout cannot go unless the parent takes the scout and picks him up at the campsite. Seems to have cut down the 'lost' slips. yis -
Got it right lasteable83. Have made them with metal as the toggle for better stength. yis

Welcome to the forum/campfire. Yeah, where do we make the line of responsibility of the individual and society taking that away saying 'this is bad'. Guess it is up to us to teach as best we can. yis

Anybody Know Anything About these Guys?

Scoutparent please note the wink in the smiley face. Indeed, ironic is the word. Rooster7, check out the December 2001 issue of National Geographic for more information on Abraham. yis -
Anybody Know Anything About these Guys?
red feather replied to OldGreyEagle's topic in Issues & Politics
Phelps and his crew were recently in my home town shouting whatever they were, the counter demo started etc. etc. When asked why they were in town they responded 'publicity'. No real message just noise, looking for others willing to give up their own thought processing and allow others to think for them. R7, sometimes I do despair. Value based, value based, value based. Remember 5 and a half billion people can't be all wrong. Hope all have a politically correct period of the year. Yis -
H--- yes welcome him back and encourage him to finish his Eagle. Use the occasion to encourage and enhance Eagle to and for the younger scouts. yis

It is too bad that your post and the reasoning it includes will be either, ignored or disputed. Thanks for the post and the thinking that hopefully it will start. yis -

Rooster7, remember "The, Lord our God, works in mysterious ways." Can't quote verse, but it is throughout religious teachings. Not only Christian teachings but other religions world wide. One path for one is sufficient. Belief is the key. The world is wide and many will reach the ulimate reward whatever they believe. Intolerlance is the path to conlfict. Diversity and tolerance. YIS

Hope all had a good Thanksgiving. To paraphrase: Thus per the ____ (fil in blank) faith, "the(n) all paths lead to the same___(fill in blank)" theology is heresy. Once again understanding the diversity is the key and answer. Breaking down the quote from BP from the first posting. Nothing indicates a specific religion or belief. BP a well traveled person had to have been exposed to many religions of the world and allowed for the many beliefs of the world. 5 and a half billion people can't be all wrong. YIS
