Definitely not for backpacking: http://www.pantherprimitives.com/2007-catalog.pdf Check out the 'Hunter's Tent' on page 44. The shortest option is 7 foot tall. Fastest set-up time is 30 seconds. We've got trees, so I'm liking the 'No Pole' option.

Eagle: If you're disagreeing with 'God is good', we're gonna fight! You Muslim? Friar Tuck: "This is grain, which any fool can eat, but for which the Lord intended a more divine means of consumption. Let us give praise to our maker and glory to his bounty by learning about... BEER."

These are my insurance pics from damage in one of the recent storm passes. The top third of a big pine sailed over and poked a hole in the roof, before sliding down the side of the house to punch in a window. It's nowhere near as bad as many folks who got really slammed this week. http://s1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc473/JosephBob/Storm%20%20April%2011/ I'm actually happy about the whole thing. 90 seconds before the tree poked a hole in the roof and broke a slat out of his top bunk, I had taken my 9 year old son out of the bottom bunk to sleep downstairs. God is good.

If it were no issue, why did the White HOuse finally buckle and release it? I bet we never see the grades!

"Then eliminate welfare. We know for a fact that we're not willing to pay the price to educate them." I think we're paying both. You can lead a horse to water, and you can confine a child to school (Until he is 16); but you can't make either of them drink. Muddying the water just makes it not as satisfying for those who do want to drink.

Gentlemen, I agree that whatever is on his birth certificate is irrelevant. Being white or muslim might have hurt his election chances before, but certainly can't matter now. So answer me a simple question: Why not produce the birth certificate? Why not publish the transcripts? What can he be hiding? And why bother?

OGE: "is this enough?" No Sir. That is a computer printout that was generated way after the fact. Any manipulation of the record would have already taken place. Repeating a lie 500 times does not make it the truth. "What the would-be sleuths won't find is Obama's "long-form birth certificate," a confidential one-page document containing his original birth records kept on file in the first floor of the Department of Health. Those original birth records typically include additional birth details, such as the hospital and delivering doctor, said Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the state's former health director who twice looked at and publicly confirmed Obama's original long-form birth records. But those documents are state government property that can't be released to anyone." Why not? An avenue of investigation that I'd like to see is for someone else, who was born in the same hospital during the same month as Obama, to try to get a copy of their 'long-form' birth records. Whether or not they can secure a detailed dcopy of their records would shed true light, one way or the other. I still think Obama was born in HI but is concealing that he's listed as white or muslim on his long form.

At the risk of being flamed into ash: I think we need to leave some children behind; the opposite of NCLB. Or at least recognize that not all children will ever be equal, and quit trying to make it so. By sacrificing so many of our resources on the lower sector, trying to pull up the underprivileged, we have lost the excellence we once had. Remember the 'track' system? Schools had smart kids, average kids, and dumb kids divided into three sets and taught to the target audience. But it became politically incorrect to admit that there were 'dumb' kids, and we put everyone in the same classroom, so that the smart kids could help teach the dumbs kids. Over the long term, that hasn't worked too well, has it? We need to face the fact that some parents don't care to invest in their children, and expect the government to babysit them from cradle to grave. These kids have no positive role model to motivate them to learn or work. Having a whole generation aspiring to grow up and be a bad teachers, like their bad teachers, is not good for the country. I'm sorry, someone has to make the fries.

Oh please! Oh please!? Without the fed being top dog, states could develope their own programs. Having 50 states would give parents fifty choices of public sytems to choose from for their kids. States would compete. Right now you have three choices: 1- Public - fed factored failure 2- Private - pay twice for your kids' education 3- Leave the country.

I have a 35 year-old Diamond brand version of the Eureka Timberline. I'll admit that it had a ten year vacation while we had young children, but it's been back in service for a few years now. It has always been folded and rolled, in a looser bag than it came in. There are pole attachments that need to be on the outside of the stored tent so they won't poke holes in the fabric. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=eureka+timberline&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=830684774711784277&sa=X&ei=Pj6yTfvKIeHs0gHs8eCLCQ&ved=0CEcQ8wIwAw#

Okay, nobody died (that I know of) as a result of the 'violent protests' in Madison. But these people are far from 'peaceful demonstrators: http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/02/17/video-from-wisconsin-protest-reveals-the-violence-and-hatred-of-the-left/ http://biggovernment.com/mrctv/2011/02/24/union-thug-attacks-freedomworks-tabitha-hale/ http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx?v=hdaG6U8znz

Okay; I looked closer. The form that Fact Check (Anneberg Foundation? Fact checking Democrats? Hah!) is so proud of was printed in 2007. (Good thing since Arial font wasn't published until '82 and Obama was born in '67.) What is on the orginal form that could possibly be so bad?

acksaddle, I guess you're gonna have to define what a 'Birther' is. You'll notice, if you read my response closely, that I think that there is some information on the birth certificate being hidden. That line of argument has to assume that the birth certificate exists, does it not? Do I want Obama to be a non-citizen? Heck no! Imagine what kind of a mess that would make out of every law he's signed, and every soldier who has died under his watch. The nattering nabobs would bore us for years! Thanks for the link to the photos. 1- Every photo shown is a close up of some document from some file. They are never shown together, so we don't know a) If it's a birth certificate. b) Whose birth certificate it is. c) If all the photos are even from the same document. 2- Why is there not one single picture of the entire form so that a person can read all that is on the form?. You bypassed Brent's question earlier: Why does the governor who promised he'd publish the document, not give us that one picture that would put it all to rest? I guess I should thank you for strengthening my conspiracy theory. Thanks!

"The newly elected Democrat governor, and a college friend of Obama's parents, vowed soon after taking office in December that he would track down the birth certificate and lay the rumors to rest. "We'll do what we can as quickly as we can to make it inevitable that only those who wish the president ill, only the ones with a political agenda, will be the ones doing this kind of thing," Abercrombie told CNN in December. In an interview from the same time with the New York Times, Abercrombie said, "It's an emotional insult. It is disrespectful to the president; it is disrespectful to the office. "There's no reason on earth to have the memory of his parents insulted by people whose motivation is solely political. ... Let's put this particular canard to rest," he said. Despite his assurance to end the controversy, the governor has yet to present the document." Notice how he danced around the issue? "It's an insult that you want me to do what I said I would!" I think the long form lists O's father's religion as Muslim...

For those who dismiss Palin: http://hillbuzz.org/ We think it delicious that Governor Sarah Palin, the next President of the United States, chose to (un)officially launch her 2012 campaign in the city that has been held hostage by union goons and absentee leftist politicians for months. "Mr. Obama, Mr. President, you and your cohorts threw all the hatred and all the violence that you could at the good folks here in Madison, Wisconsin but you lost here. And Madison, you defended that 2010 electoral mandate. You are heroes. You are patriots and when the history of this Tea Party movement is written, what you accomplished here will not be forgotten. Your historic stand brought down the curtain on the last election and the 2012 election begins here. We will take the courage and the integrity that you showed all of America, we will take it and we will win back our country. God has shed his grace on thee America. We will not squander what we have. We will fight for America and it starts here in Madison, Wisconsin. It starts here. It starts now. What better place than the state that hosts the Super Bowl champs to call out the liberal left and let them know, Mr. President, game on. And she did it without a TelePrompTer.

Many good suggestions. My three: 1- Put your head throught the neck of a wool sweater or fleece top. Don't put your arms in. The loose material around your neck works as an air baffle against the sides of your sleeping bag to keep the cold air outside from drafting down inside your bag. 2- Don't wear anything thick or tight inside your bag. Sweats, etc, will bunch up inside your joints when you turn at night. The tight fabric restricts your circulation to your feet and arms, making them cold. 3- A big blanket, flanel sheet, or poncho liner draped over the top outside your bag will give you and extra 5 to 10 degrees. Think of it as a small tent inside your tent.
