Well, FOG, that boy and his parents are going to have more problems than the leader not liking the use of such a large knife. Where Bob's at( I know this b/c he is only a few hours away:)), it would be illegal for that boy to buy, own, posses, etc such a large knife.

I would reccomend Camelbak's and not a no-name pack from WalMart(been there,done that). I use a Camelbak Thermobak 3L(military version) and a belt pack on hikes, camporees, etc. Highly suggest both or a backpack with the hydration pack built in. Remember you are in the summer and it will be hot!!

I need some answers really quickly if possible. I am going backpacking this weekend in Missouri. --Camelbak-good or bad idea? I think it may be a good idea, but dont know --What part of the mess kit to take? --Leave multitool at home?? Thanks.

Our pack used to be totally different than our troop, but they have since split into two packs. The newer one became the same as the troop.

For the people who were in Scouts as a child, what was your highest rank. And what "job" do you hold now in Scouting? I'll start off... Star Scout, Quartermaster, webdesigner, and den chief.

That's why you should master a map and compass before moving onto GPS.

Gee Fog, are you the reason your troop has made rules about that??? They shouldn't have to be done because all Scouts should live up to the Scout Oath and Law. Those should be the only rules a troop needs.

Well, since you asked:).... Backpacking tent would be nice, but I'm not expecting it since I got a new tent last year;). Decent internal or external frame pack would be nice(hydration pack compatible of coure) Already let him know about the GPS unit I want. New tactital boots would be nice as well. Rock climbing equipment. Computer(laptop preferrred, but desktop ok) BDU pants in OD and CAMO Money to buy a domain name(hops_scout.com) I like the sounds of that;):) Finally, to top it all off, to meet most of you;);):):)(This message has been edited by hops_scout)

We usually only have one with a cell phone. He also has to carry a pager because he is a volunteer fire fighter.

I think OGE is right on this one.... not trying to start a large arguement or anything but.... why should they support it on other's property, but not their own??
