Summer Camp Merit BadgesVSCounselors
evmori replied to VentureScoutNY's topic in Advancement Resources
I feel there are some merit badges that Scouts wouldn't have the chance to earn if it weren't for summer camp. Sure there are counselors outside summer camp but summer camp provides the optimal place to learn them! I am talking about badges like Small Boat Sailing, Pioneering, Environmental Science, Nature, Motorboating just to mention a few. And I am talking about my part of the world only. Sure some of the counselors at summer camp aren't that good. But some of the counselors outside of summer camp are just as bad! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
We make training a requirement for adults who want to be involved. If they don't want to go to training, we don't need them! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

No. Because your posts in these forums are nothing more than you pushing your agenda. And you view of the truth is very skewed. And you in no way could disrupt my world. BTW, there is a spell checker available in these forums. OGE, you snuck in while I was typing! You are 100% correct! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)

Bridge Crossing for boys not joining a troop
evmori replied to CMFB's topic in Advancement Resources
I re-read the requirements & notice the part of #6 about completing an application to join Boy Scouts is no longer required! So fotoscout, the info I gave you was incorrect! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
NJ- "I cannot be a leader in the Jewish faith if I don't agree to practice the beliefs of the Jewish faith. Do I try to get Judaism to believe what I believe? Or, do I join a church that shares my beliefs? I thought the BSA wasn't a religion.' BW- nice try counselor but you and every one who read that understood that the comparison was between two private organizations having the right and ability to determine its own membership. But one doesn't have to be Jewish to be a BSA leader in a unit charted by a synagogue unless it is required by the CO! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I cannot be a leader in the Jewish faith if I don't agree to practice the beliefs of the Jewish faith. Not true at all. I was a Cubmaster and the CO was a Catholic church & I'm not Catholic. I am currently an ASM with a Troop chartered by a Methodist church & I'm not a Methodist. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I'm sure there was a point to Wheeler's post other than being informational. Anyone know what it is? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

SR540Beaver, Neither am I. Just curious what the criteria is & if each have equal weight. Just as a test, I'm gonna give your last post here a thumbs down just to see what happens. It is in no way a reflection on your post. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 (After voting) Interesting, huh?(This message has been edited by evmori) -
Another New Feature: User Ratings
evmori replied to SCOUTER-Terry's topic in Forum Support & Announcements
Terry, The following is what shows up when one clicks User Rating: - How many new quality threads has the user started in the past 60 days? - How many quality replies has the user made to existing threads in the past 60 days? - The ratio or positive to negative votes the user has received on posts they have made. Only other registered users may vote. Who defines quality? Does a user have the ability to see who voted on their post & whether it is positive or negative? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
The "Patriot Act" and the freedom to read
evmori replied to NJCubScouter's topic in Issues & Politics
ScouterPaul, I don't think the Patriot Act gives the government carte blanche. We are still protected by the Constitution. The government can gather all the data they want. They have been doing it for years! I've said it before & I'll say it again, I have nothing to hide so gather away! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori) -
If the Scout didn't complete the requirement he didn't complete the requirement! He still has the opportunity to complete the requirement. But by letting this go, the Scout Oath & Law has been put in your back pocket. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

foto, Without looking it up, I think the requirement is to complete the application to join a Troop. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
I would have a chat with the Scout & whoever signed the requirements that weren't completed. I would discuss the Scout Oath & Law. The BOR can reconvene after the Scout has completed all ther requirements. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

The "Patriot Act" and the freedom to read
evmori replied to NJCubScouter's topic in Issues & Politics
Would you object if the police started pulling over cars to search the trunk? How about if they knocked on your door and rummaged through your wife's underwear drawer? Without probably cause yes I would object. However, if they call my plate in that's OK & if they want to watch my house let 'em! Like I said, I have nothing to hide! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -

Collect away! I have nothing to hide! And if this method will help protect my family & country from being attacked then it's worth it! It seems the only people this really bothers is those who HAVE something to hide or those who are paranoid! Ed Mori
