  1. Assuming this is coming via USPS, if you don't already have it, sign up for Informed Delivery at usps.com. Then you will see in the early morning what is arriving that day (and sometimes what is arriving in the next few days).
  2. I'm sure there are many victims, besides me, who have researched SoL and reached out to legislators about a change or window. I'm equally confident more States will enact changes to their SoL. And as the case develops, more avenues are opening up to toll the SoL's. So how can the Grey matrix be set in stone when laws are fluid? This has always been my line in the sand. I will never feel justice when the poor fellow across the river from me receives 5x my settlement for what may be a lower level of abuse, simply because he is in another jurisdiction. I'm aware that we are time barred.
  3. If we only knew then, what we know now. My abuser told me that I seemed like a boy who needed extra attention, which (at that time) I viewed as a compliment and gladly accepted. Had I known what I later learned, I would have punched him instead.
  4. Thanks kindly. That will help. I still have all of the merit badge cards that were in my scrapbook, so I will go over it.
  5. He became hostile to me on Wednesday night and I called him out on the abuse on Thursday of camp week, having never finished the work or final tests. He signed my card early and told me not to come back. I'm trying to find the Eagle requirements from 1973 so I can determine if I otherwise earned it. My brag vest has 22 merit badges so I may have earned an extra. If not, I don't justly own it. Nor do I really care anymore.
  6. I'm contemplating returning my Eagle to BSA, as one of my merit badges was "earned" from my abuser. Struggling? You think?
  7. The instance that occurred just this summer at my former camp (bathroom cameras and so on) underscored to me that the issues are still there. If abuse was a thing of the past, then the organization might be able to move on. Clearly it is not so. I don't see how BSA survives.
  8. For the sake of discussion, if 50% of the claimants took the $3500 and out, could the remaining claimants potentially receive greater compensation because so many settled out for that minimal amount or via future insurance settlements? Given the Grey 3 in the State of my abuse, it becomes a borderline call even considering the tier assigned to my abuse.
  9. Ok. Got it. So the only way to complete the equation is knowing the number in each tier by State. Thanks.
  10. So the vast majority is likely in 1-2. Thanks for this. I am working from memory.
  11. I remember seeing it. And I remember the majority of claims were in the Tiers 1-3. But if you eliminated half the claimants with the $3500 ($145M) there may be higher settlements for the balance.
  12. Based on this chart, it would appear that one could quantify the number of claims that would/should take the $3500. If someone has access to claims by Tier, it would be interesting to know that number. Suddenly, it looks to me like many would take the cash and get out. If your abuse is in 4,5 or 6 there is nothing more to even talk about.
  13. Is there a "crying" emoji? Based on the way this is unfolding, Pro se was a wise move on my part. I cannot imagine a law firm sending 60% of $3500 (or less) to a client with any explanation. How would that cover letter read?
  14. Thank you. You hit the nail on the head. The renewed pain is worse in some ways. I had at least buried it in my mind somewhere. And that is not to mention that IF my abuser is still alive, he will not be very happy with me coming forward (and I recall that he really likes guns). This was very poorly handled and has left me wondering how supportive I should be to BSA. Mods can move this too, if need be. I just don't need 2 threads.
  15. That could make $3500 look good. This is a sad situation. I feel that the hype in signing up claimants was negligent to an extreme. The talk of equitable compensation and equal treatment regarding SoL only exacerbated it. IF these numbers turn out to be close to accurate, I'm sure most of us would not have bothered.
  16. I'm very interested to see how it plays out. For someone who doesn't need the money, wants privacy or doesn't have a strong case, I can see the $3500 being considered. But I recall seeing a breakdown wherein a big number of claims is in most severe abuse class. Can't see a lot of them scooping up $3500, as adequate. Then again, the more times I see that closed-state claimants could get nearly zero, the better that offer (or a bumped up one in the future) will look. I don't know if the money is there, but a bump to $10k would likely settle a whole bunch of claims.
  17. #3 certainly crossed my mind. But #4....an attorney settling for his/her portion of $3500??? Maybe at $10k there would be a lot more action. Idk. We shall see.
  18. Anybody who actually believed this would be over in 9 months hasn't spent much time in court.
  19. In the end, how many will take the $3500? 1000? They should just get that offer out there and be done with it. I'm not wealthy but am comfortable and I wouldn't bother whatsoever to chase $3500. I once received $5000 in the mail because a spammer had sent me junk faxes. I'd be quite surprised if they sold many releases for $3500. Certainly, anyone thinking about it (who is represented) will get a healthy dose of dissuasion.
  20. With all due appreciation to the host and moderators, I rarely even look at the other thread. One is enough for me. I'm not even sure I could find it. May I suggest when items are moved you indicate so with a link?
  21. That happens to be my council, and nobody has asked for my vote. I have read in this forum that there is paper mail being received at the claimant's home address. I have checked my omni account and always check my mailbox online and personally, and nothing has been received from Omni or anyone else. Are others receiving notifications?
  22. And my follow up would be: Just how many were induced to join in filing a claim BECAUSE of the high dollars that were pitched? Perhaps if the dollars were more realistic to begin with, borderline claims may have never been filed, leaving the limited funds to be distributed to a smaller pool.
  23. Just curious: To you lawyer types..... Is it tantamount to legal malpractice to draw in clients with pitches of hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars when there may only be like $5k? It just seems so egregiously negligent. The wounds this has ripped open for everyone is a high price to pay for the way this has played out. It would not surprise me to hear that more than a couple of victims end up going over the edge. The whole thing is so disappointing. At this juncture, they might just as well approve the best terms and divide it up among valid claimants. Doesn't seem like th
