  1. Except that it's not. A program fee is strictly a council fee, none of that goes to the National Council. Program fee's usually come when FOS starts to dry up. Got to keep the lights on somehow. Please, stop pushing hysteria and false information. A Scout is trustworthy, sir.
  2. But yet you are pushing for CO's to be in control of a council?
  3. Both CO's and Members-at-large are voting members on the executive board.
  4. COR's are already on the executive board...they just never go to meeting, but they can. I do very much disagree with your assertion that Chartering Organizations should "run" the council being that every CO's are so different for one another. Everyone would want "my guy" as an officer.
  5. That's what I keep hearing too. That, in conjunction with the number of recent "retirements" from the National Office makes me think some big news is on the horizon.
  6. We have yet to hear anything from Mosby....regarding anything.
  7. Larger councils that are able to fool unsuspecting people into take DA jobs. Only council that I've met that used them is Northern Star in Minnesota.
  8. Almost all Professionals are salaried, exempt employees. That's why we work insane hours. District Associates are the only Professionals who are hourly.
  9. Which is insane to hear because I meet with every CO twice a year at minimum.
  10. In my experience, Chartering Organizations are the ones who rarely hold up their end of the deal. Your Charter Organization may be the exception to the rule, but I never see CO's help recruit youth and adults, support committees, encourage training, attend Council Exec board meetings, etc... and i GREATLY encourage active charters because, believe me, it makes my life a whole lot easier. I don't understand what you mean when you say councils don't fulfill their end. I will happily post the annual charter agreement so you can see for it yourself. What exactly are councils not doing?
  11. Those dang pros on the All- Volunteer Camping Committees!
  12. Ironically, I see history repeating itself here. The second CSE, Elbert Fretwell, also came from outside of the Profession. That was done purposely as the board didn't want a prior Professional, or "West Man" to become the CSE.
  13. Imagine being a fresh out of college 21 year old and taking basic training with the CEO of the company you now work for. Fun Fact: DE's don't actually get the official title "District Executive" until you've completed Basic Training/Commissioning
  14. You have been a volunteer with Scouting for three decades. How will that help you in your new job? "The (BSA Executive) Board knew what they wanted. They wanted someone who embraced the Scout Oath and Law. And that’s an easy one for me. I’ve spent the biggest part of my Scouting life on the volunteer side. But I’ve worked enough at the area, regional, and national levels to get a feel for how life is on that side. My perspective on the profession is not the same as someone who came up through the organization. I think I see it more from the viewpoint of what kind of services I’d like to se
  15. well I mean....yea. There is that lol
  16. Guy looks like he doesn't like staying in one place for too long. Also, weird to see someone leave a sweet full-time gig at a National High Adventure base
  17. My takes: peer to peer recruitment is practically dead Troops rely solely on AOL crossovers Packs keep dying off. Less Cub Scouts eventually mean less Scouts BSA Members Reluctance to recruit new members outside of Packs.
  18. Not True. Volunteers always know before Council Employees lol. One of the reasons i'm on this board, actually.
  19. I wonder how they were able to scoot around the Deceleration of Religions Principle with that partnership.
  20. I'm sorry to hear that. I get that a lot of Professionals make bad decisions, but just being hateful doesn't help anybody.
  21. Unnecessary. There are a lot of good people who are DE's that are doing things the right way.
  22. Couldn't tell you. Here is the official word from the Registration guidebook: "A roster may be used in exceptional circumstances in a few Scoutreach units where obtaining completed applications or parental signatures is not possible for a special group of members. This exception applies only to situations where privacy regulations or the safety of the youth or the youth’s family preclude obtaining the information, e.g., where the youth is living in a protected environment such as an abuse shelter, group home, or detention facility. Or, a roster may be permitted when participants are enrolled i
