  1. Anyone around here have a Green wool jacket Medium just hanging up ?
  2. Our Ordeal cost is $15 for existing members. $35 Brotherhood and $55 Ordeal Our Conclave was $75 Banquet was $15 a person Dues $10
  3. This is where my Pack Shines, we are very much an outdoor pack and camp out very often and when I say often more than the troop!
  4. I do not have a healthy troop at all. To answer your question, none!
  5. I believe most of it is the fault of the Webelo Den Leader! Webelos should be treated differently than Tigers, Wolves and Bears (Cub Scouts) these are Webelos Scouts. You have 2 years to transition these boys into Boy Scouts and get them ready. This is the time where parents involvement drop off some, a time to put up the crayons and used tools to make a patrol flag.
  6. Yes, even here in Memphis! Chickasaw Council had 185 Webelos II cross over last year of those 185 only 75 signed up with a troop. Closer to home, the troop my son chose has a very strong pack and out of the 8 that crossed over only 3 have come to the meetings and not even regularly.
  7. I am right there with you! Love seeing Bear in his Chief Scout Uniform. And I am a huge Bear Fan
  8. It almost is either/or, especially with competitive ball. I have one of my Web's hasn't complete his last two "ranks" Bear and Webelos because of baseball.
  9. I have 7 boys in my Web1 Patrol. 3 have completed the requirements for Webelos the other 4 have not, they have 1 week to get it complete. It will not be awarded after than. I have 1 youth in my Den that has completed Tiger-Webelos.
  10. This is why I quit smoking as well. I smoked the first year and 1/2 as a leader in cub scouts, I never smoked in front of the boys though and I hid well in the woods.
  11. WOW never heard of such! Sounds Awesome !
  12. Kia Kima has a great Resident Camp and it isn't Family Camping at all! Only adults there are adult Leaders, if the parents wanna come they do. Free Time is normally after all the classes are done and after dinner.
  13. Don't get me swearing!!! I will throw every 4 letter word out that I can think of! No none of us is are perfect but we are examples we are who some of the boys look up to. My wife loves Mexican food and we have 2 places in town and they stay fairly busy. I don't drink beer but when I do its Dos Equis at a Mexican Restaurant. I live in a fairly small town, population of 12,345 and all it takes is one person seeing me drink a beer and I am going to be labeled some raging alcoholic. So I save the Beer for when I am Memphis.
  14. Tell me about it! I was once a 1st year Parent! Coleman 8 Man Insta tent, Queen size matress......I have now conformed. I am rather confused though, don't summer camps have the tradition Platform Canvas Tents?
  15. You should worry more about the sleeping pad than the Tent. If you aren't going to go the way of the Hammock (which you will spend equally the same amount if not more for a Pad and Tent) the invest in a Quality Air Mat (ThermaRest or Big Agnes) You can get a OneLink Eno and it has everything in it for 150.00.
  16. Should not be tolerated! I cuss myself but I do NOT do it around the boys PERIOD.
  17. You speak of separate adventures, but why are you separating them? They can and really should be done altogether if you can. These are all outdoor adventures, cant have camping unless your cooking. Am I missing something ?
  18. 1. The books might not been available but Everything had been online for many many months prior to the new year. You could have downloaded it (like we did) to plan our year. They also had these really nice meeting plans you could use as well. 2. I guess I don't see what you are referring to as far as Bears being harder than Webelos (at least Webs I)
  19. I am not a Boy Scout Leader, I am a Committee Chairmen but I am the ACM and Webelos Den Leader
  20. I'm just really glad you guys feel the same as I do! I struggle with a lot with one of my Leaders (COR) which was my Wolf leader but she just awarded to award. One week she awards Out Door Ethic patch to a number of the scouts (I am the LNT Trainer) and I approached her about it and stated "I don't recall any of these scouts reciting the Out Door Code to me" her reply "They recited it to me" In our unit with rank (bobcat) only the ACM or CM can approve Bobcat.
  21. I started as a Tiger Leader, 8 boys and with determination and doing it over and over again everyone of them were able to recite Oath & Law! So this "Oh they are just 1st graders" crap is for the birds. Unless there is a developmental issue with the kid he doesn't get Rank until it gets recited to me! Period
  22. Need a Standing Ovation emoticon! Yes "Do your Best" but you'e going to earn it !
  23. YEAP...My son crossed over and I am sticking with the pack for a while. I am not quite ready for Boy Scouts yet, I am still too hands on and I enjoy it.
