Porcupines eh? the wifes family is from harrisburg, There is a few Suggestions I never considered, It seems that quite a few crew leaders are to myopic to see past the HA brochures and discover whats around them. Also councel seems to quietly dicourage independance. I Guess i'm just discouraged every time I go to one of those and its the same old same old... .... yeah, I know, just don't go... but Maybe the next one...
  2. I've been to 4 "High Adventure" Seminars in the last 2 years, All turned ended up as time-share type sales pitches for philmont, $ea Base and Northern Tier. What was touted as a program to discuss options for crew adventures was nothing but how you really $hould go to the$e three, Out of the entire US of A and thats all there is?

  5. Most Rustic scout camps in michigan have been closed in favor of those more appealing and more marketable to the masses. Platform tents are looked upon with disgust. Dining halls have replaced patrol cooking. No high adventure Costs keep going up Whats happining to the camps?

  7. When communicating Its When one or a group of knowledgable person(s) speaks with the mistaken assumption that the other person understands what the first person is talking about. ex: Our COR just told our SM to let the CC and the PLC know that the CO has M&Cs for after the TM.

  13. well trained, thats what we are, why even crew members have to be trained My COR has to be trained (not ypt either) Crew members have to be trained ilsc, etc so many hoops, so many fingers in the pie, yes, some training is required, but some of it borders on sillyness, rules so vague it will take a lawsuit to straighten out. Way too many helecopters out there, you cant escape them anymore. more training, more time wasted, sorry, cant go, have training to go to.   14. Is it me or is scouting becoming more like K-mart? Slowly losing market share, sells off assets to pay exec salrys, closes stores, offers new things nobody wants, etc
