  1. During our family camp everyone is invited, friends, grandparents we plan a game filled day with leaders vs scouts in flag fooball, kayacks in the lake tha the boys made dinner is 3-4 BBQ turkeys and then top the evening with a campfire and final honors ceremony.

  2. SPL... actually the position you assigned him sure does sound like "Instructor" to me. If I recall correclty Instructor is a leadership position that his held by scouts. and only needs to be proficient in the area of which he is instucting and by the sounds of it you got a good one.

Now if your looking towards "made up" positions we have one called the Gamemaster (responsible for brining the balls to the meeting.)

  3. We recently had serval Webelos visit, after starting with a flag ceremony they Webelos then were taken to several different stations byt the SPL 1st was Dutch oven cooking we had a Star scout supervise and let the Webelos dump the ingredients in the D.O.

2nd was a 1st aid station where some Webelos had wounds put on them with sticks and bones sticking out of their arm and had the other Webelos dressed the wounds.

3rd they would visit a station theat showed kayacks that were made by the scouts.

    4. Knots and then a team bulding game

    5. Scoutmaster would talk to them, and then a closing and they got to taste the cobler that the Webelos made.

  4. Fat Old Guy,

When my son entered into the troop the Webelos all formed their own patrol and as 11yr olds they did fine, were they as effective as the older boy's, no however all our gifted according to their maturity level and talents. If your opposed to having all 11yr olds togther as a patrol please reconsider. Let them use the troop guide as a resouce and assistance.

My opionion let them hang out with their friends in the same patrol I think they will enjoy the scouting experience alot more.

  5. What I have read about these and what I have experienced have been two separate things. How do you conduct yours? Is it a casual conversation tl get to know the scout? I'm actually just an ASM and someday hope to get to serve my troop as S.M. What I have experienced as being the 2nd leader present is a re-test of the Scouts rank that he had just completed.

Also do you require the scout to be uniform? I have yet to see it written anywhere so I would think that you cannot require it or would you simply request it. Same with B.O.R.'s must you be in uniform?

  6. How about putting the pictures on a poster board with graphics cut out from paper and then attach them with plastic wraps he could keep an on-going "Troop album" and then pass it on to the next T.H. this would be a nice display at COH's or somehthing visiting Webelos can look at. Please make sure he takes pictures with plenty of scouts in it.
