  1. My opinion is no. Im a 16 year old scout and the SPL and i wouldnt allow it. I think that alot in boyscouts has to do with the uniforms. But i could see why people wouldnt want them. What Kenk said about it being embarrising, well yea it is. But you get over it. I mean so what. Although, its sad, in that for example, my friend wanted to see my wallet and he saw my charter card and was like your a boy scout? and everyone around started laughing and making comments. But instead of getting mad i jus thought they are the ones missin out. How many people go on 50 mile treks, or go camping every mon
  2. Well ive been sercheing on google non stop. Finding some things but not all i wanted. Whats an anthropoly departmant? Like is that people who search historys? The American Museum of Natural history i could visit. I'll probaly find stuff there, but its a pain to go there.
  3. Well i did some reply and yea i agree i found the Siwanoy tribe to be my best bet. Plus my lodge is a Siwanoy dilect i guess you can say. But now i found the tribe, but i cant find information on their culture. What they wore, houses(wigwams ive found), their food, did they move with seasons, were they offensive or more defensive, how were they affected by whites moving in, are any members still alive today. I cant find things like that. If you know some stuff that would be so helpful.
  4. Ok well ive become very interested in the Native American tribes that would have stayed in my area. I live in Riverdale, Bronx New York. Im curious which tribes were here. Ive done research but ive only found things that are generalized. I want to learn about the tribe that would have lived here.
  5. Well im a 16 year old scout, and havnt received anything scout related, but i have received some stuff that could help me with scouting. One is money(which everyone loves), wallet(perfect for that money, my eagle cards, and my scout charter card), slippers(good for cabins), gloves(it gets cold in the snow), new north face jacket(cant wait to hike in it. Its perfect. Has an inliner that keeps me warm but not to hot.), new printer(awesome for my lodge owl. I run the pub. commitee), neck pillow(for those long trips to TMR), and some other stuff.
  6. Never in my 8 years in scouting have i seen a leader wear a tie. Its always some form of neckercheif or WB beads.
  7. In order to have any board of review in my troop you need to be in full class A uniform. Especially for eagle. I mean, getting Eagle is suppossed to be something you remember for the rest of your life. When i had my eagle board, my uniform was pressed, and i have to say, i looked pretty impressive. i'd be very embarresed to find that one of my scouts showed up to an eagle board in civilian clothing.
  8. My scoutmaster like to be called by his first by troop members. Being his SPL, im very close to him. So i know when to call him Mr. A or Joe. And i have respect for him either way.
  9. Well i also find that troubling. My gaming clan uses invisionfree forums. They are great. You have complete control over the forum, and no offense, but you can do more with them than you can here. The only problem is, you cant transfer this forum over to that one. So all the topics would have to be redone and people would have to re-register. Its a pain, but if you ask me its worth it. The website is called invisionfree.com. If you want to see a sample boyscout forum, i made one for my troop, but we havnt gotten around to moving to it yet. We've been very busy recently. Take this into consider
  10. I am extremely active with video games. Im in a video game clan. My life runs with boyscouts, school, friends, and video games. I play halo. And i play other games. The one thing i hate is when people think that its a kid thing. I absoulutly have to disagree. In my clan, we have full adults playing. People with jobs. We have firecheif, network admins, sports clothing designer, website designers, and so on. So how does gaming help me?Well my new dream is to become a video game designer. I realize that games are something that make people happy and something for them to use to have fun. I think
  11. Ok so im having trouble finding my PM inbox. I get these email notifications but with no message. Every now and then the message is included in the email, but i cant read some of the messages people are PMing me. Wheres the inbox?
  12. Congrats man. 23 years is a lot. It really goes to show how great our country is, the fact that someone would devote almost their entire lifetime to something so great. I thank you, for being there, protecting everything that i stand and being to ensure that i live a happy life. Its people like you that really make America, what it is.
  13. I realized you guys are right. A non attack approach probaly would be better.
  14. I my self am the SPL of my troop. It would heart break me if i was removed because i wasnt doing my job properly. My advice, is have your son talk to the SM. Have come face to face and get all over into him. Especially have him surprise him. This will put the SM on the spot. if it were me, i'd do it in front of the entire troop. Im sorry but thats just plainly disrespectful and honestly, i wouldnt go out with a fight. Like stated before, he cant be forced to squat. So if he doesnt want to be a venturer then he doesnt need to be. The committee chairperson is the one in charge. The SM reports to
  15. Another movie i recommend is Remember the Titans. Again it shows leadership and teamwork. Good movie as well as apollo 13
  16. This movie shows leadership and teamwork. We use it for my councils NYLT course. Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks. Being a 16 year old, its a good movie. Scouts will be interested in it. And it makes the point at the same time.
  17. Wow thanks a lot man. You guys are really helpful. Its really nice to see that people care about kids who are disabled. Thank you
  18. alright. I like these ideas. We did the rope game a while back but someone got hurt, but a pillow on the end is probaly better.
  19. In my troop, we have many kids with disabilities. The majority is ADD or ADHD. We have two scouts who are more seriously disabled. One who is wheelchair bound and another who is blind and deaf. The wheelchair bound scout has morely left us due to college and his internship with Coke-Cola. The other is about 13 years old. I think my troop has adjusted well with him. Except heres the problem. My troop is quite big. Over 40 members. Of all ages. The problem is getting games he can play. So ive been trying to get ideas that would be fun for him as well as everyone else. So recently, ive done a ga
  20. Yep. Im brotherhood and am the Publications Committee chairperson. Im hoping on joining the rit-team. Right now the lodge is kinda on the dead side, but we are rising back up slowly. Hopefully, the lodge will become as great as it was back in the old days.
