Welcome and good luck.  Yes, it is a simple piece of paper to get your membership transferred into the current lodge.  If you served for at least 1 year as an Ordeal member, you are eligible to do Brotherhood at any time.   Brotherhood is the easiest of the 3 levels to achieve.  Hope you have a good group of adult leaders in your lodge.  In my neck of the woods, if you , or a family member is not on camp staff at a local camp you are really not welcomed.

I had the same experience with Philmont............we tried for years to get in, and were never able to.   This was back in the days when you had to phone in.

Yes, I was of the same vintage (Tenderfoot starting in 1967)   My short sleeve shirts were collarless because they were cheaper.

Welcome to the forum.   Yes, my first year as Scoutmaster, I had about 15 Weblos bridge into the troop all at once.

Interesting point.   If I recall scouting history correctly, it was the mid 50's when adult leaders could no longer work on advancement.  I think the big proliferation of knots came in the late 70's, and 80's  ?

Is there nobody at the Council level watching these things?   Kind of obvious (wrong date of birth).  Doesn't take a rocket scientist to catch the incorrect app.

Sad but true.  The OA elections the lodge runs are pretty lame.  In the past, the OA leadership in the troop has given supplemental information on what the order is, and what good members do.   When we did this, we saw the popularity contest diminish.   Not all candidates were automatically elected.

Am on staff for 2017.   Hope to be for 2019 too.

I agree......went in 69 when I was 13.   Would have had a much better time 4 years later at 17.

My local council camp added 2 weeks to the season this year.   We have over 1000 kids reserved already, the last time I'm told that happened was 1975.

It has been my experience that if an adult changes position, they have to fill out a new app.

I feel your pain, been in the same situation myself.  Most parents don't want boy led, they want the easy way out (Weblos 3 den)

Those people are not worth the time of day, leave them in the rearview mirror.

Your copy of the blue card signed by the counselor, comes in useful if for some reason the council does not have a record of you earning a merit badge.  You can produce your blue card as proof of earning the badge.

I've been doing MB Counseling for 20 years plus now.  Maybe once or twice in the time period, I have been contacted by scout from another troop to work with them on a badge.

True, I have always felt uncomfortable about selling overpriced goods to raise money.  Almost like saying, here, buy this $2 box of popcorn, and throw in a $13 donation.

I started a crew once,  it was successful.   We got members from the older boys in the troop, and had a few of their sisters join.

Concentrated on doing more mature themed Venturing events.   Turned out really well.

I was associated with a troop once that went there almost every summer.   They had nothing but positive comments about it.

Council camp is 70.

High adventure is also every year, ranging from 200- 2000 depending in the destination.
