  1. Interesting stories. The bottom line is, if somebody takes the time to nominate you for an award, you should at least have the decency to wear it, if nothing else to honor the person who thought enough to nominate you.

  2. I have experienced better wear out of the older styles of pants. I still manage to wear out pants much more quickly than shirts. I don't think I have ever worn out a shirt.

  3. As far as I am aware of, all knots are achievement based. Even the James West knot. It was designed so that individuals could be honored by their units when they didn't qualify for any other award. (Of course, some people make the donation themselves)

  4. Definately, if the recognition encourages some leaders to stay involved, great. But even more important to me, if you look at the requirements for the awards, any leader fulfilling those requirements will be doing a pretty good job of running his or her aspect of the program. It provides a good road map, so to speak.
