In older editions of the OA Handbook, it says they can be worn during Courts of Honor. Though I believe that the current book says "Special Scouting Funcitions". I DO see Courts of Honor as a Special Scouting Function (a good way to recognize those who are at a certain level in the OA). The mini-sash, as far as I know, isn't an official uniform piece. Also as far as I know, the BSA has NOT condemned it either. I see this as an instant recognition during events when it is not declared as an OA event.

Can Adult Scouters wear medals earned as Scout
htc1992eaglescout47553 replied to Ceaux's topic in Uniforms
It is in the Insignia Guide. Look up Eagle Medal Believe it or not, I am a member of NESA. In the "Eagleletter", I've seen Eagle Scouts photographed much older than me wearing their medals. I do agree that the Eagle Scout is a rank for the youth, but there is a saying "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle.(This message has been edited by htc1992eaglescout47553) -
Can Adult Scouters wear medals earned as Scout
htc1992eaglescout47553 replied to Ceaux's topic in Uniforms
Actually, the Eagle Scout medal CAN be worn by adults. Unlike youth, the adults can ONLY wear them during formal dress occasions (like Courts of Honor or Blue and Gold Banquets or other dress occasions). However, adults CANNOT wear the medals during regular Scouting functions (Troop meetings (Scout and Troop Committee), Den Meetings, Roundtables, training sessions. -

I am an Eagle Scout (Class of 1992) and I did some research on this topic and this is what I came up with: I believe this is a yes and no topic. On the no-during regular meetings, the medals is not to be worn by adults. On the yes-during Dress/Formal Occasions (ie. Courts of Honor, Blue & Gold Banquets). Up to 5 medals can be worn. -
I actually live about 1/2 hour west of that scene. This post puts this story in another perspective. I first heard about that story on WTHI-TV 10 out of Terre Haute, IN. Here is a 'local' news article from the Washington Times Herald: By Laura Thigpen, Staff Writer A good samaritan died early today trying to help the driver of a sub-compact Nissan who drove off the Bypass and into the overflow pond under the U.S. 50 bridge at the Daviess-Knox county line. Two of three passengers escaped from the car which went into the water just after 5 a.m. but at least one was presumed drow

All I have to say is this: viva John Paul the Great. Although I am a Lutheran, I will be praying for my Catholic brothers and sisters as they look for a new pope and as they remember the life of JPII.

Fallen Eagle Scout Mother

About a month ago, I designed a website for both my local Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop. I decided to have a section called "Webmaster's Mind" kinda like a "Scoutmaster's Minute". I posted a tribute on that section. Here is the link: http://www.geocities.com/scoutingloogootee/mind.html -
Guys, Around 9:30 am on the 27th of May, my mother passed away. She was 57 years old. My family could use prayers right now.

The Hoosier Trails Council (My council) does have a strict policy of obtaining Rank insignia. I had actually bought a couple of Eagle Scout patches and a Gold Palm (as a device for my knot for my uniform) and I was told that they needed to see my cards. I showed them my cards and I was able to buy them. For rank insignia, they need to see proof for you to obtain one (advancement report or rank card). Those councils that do not, they should. It saddens me to think of a possibility of someone who did not earn Eagle Scout having an Eagle Scout kit (especially those who purchased them t

There is a Christian Metal Band from the 1980's called Stryper. On their "Soldiers Under Command" album, they did an interesting version of "Battle Hymn of the Republic". To put it in rocker's lingo, that version "smokes" and I think it would be cool for a closing. -

Hey guys, let's make room for our newest Eagle Scout (psst, Candidate right now), FloridaScout. Hey Florida Scout, congrats to you for making it this far. Hey, let us know when you recieve a confirmation from your council. When you do, you need to celebrate in style, plenty of cans of Pepsi (or Coca-Cola or RC or what have you). I, like the rest of us, will be celebrating with you.
