Also, the married couples are supposed to be married to each other.

Interesting. BTW, the rope on a flagpole is a "halyard." Here's the explanation that I got from TIOH a years ago "There is no official significance to each of the 13 folds of the flag and really no information on folding the flag in a triangle. The first mention of folding the flag into the shape of a "Cocked Hat" did not appear in the Army regulation until 1923. There was no information of this use of folding the flag prior to this date, nor was anything found that could associate it with a Naval custom (as most flag traditions). It appears that the method of folding the flag was developed to facilitate handling and storage." Which goes along with your explanation of "unfurling" as it is hoisted.

I stand corrected, thank you. If a one "el" lama is a Tibetan monk and a two "el" llama is an Andean beast of burden, what is a three "el" lllama? One heck of a fire. There she was just a walking down the street, singing "llama, llama, llama, llama, llama."

fun (fn) noun 1. A source of enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure. 2. Enjoyment; amusement: have fun at the beach. 3. Playful, often noisy, activity. (This message has been edited by Gold Winger)

I thought that Ozzie Nelson was the youngest Eagle. I guess that the truth is whatever you want it to be, like Jesse Ventura being a combat hardened SEAL.

Honor and Awards (pencil-whipped badges rant)

OGE, it looks like you're misunderstanding the misunderstanding. "In what stages or courses of BSA adult leader training today are leaders taught "how to teach"?" Despite BeeDub's hand waving answer, it really isn't. Skills may be taught but actual instructional methods don't get too much time. -
Let's see . . . they're much easier to store when folded into a rectangle. Look at new flags. I'm also amused by the made-up symbolism of the triangle fold just as I'm amused by the made-up symbolism regarding the flag itself.(This message has been edited by Gold Winger)

Maybe things have changed but it used to be that the site owner could dictate what types of ads.

Trick but no baiting. With all of the people discussing the right way to destroy a flag, I thought that it might be fun to see how many people know the right way to fold a flag.

That's scarey.

I found it interesting that the OAImaages blog has an ad for dianetics.org

" GW was incorrect and will not be going to the championship round" Hmmmm . . . didn't know that I was playing. Once again, BeeDub is very confused.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

"Who's at fault if a "trained" leader does not have the skills it takes to be a First Class Scout?" Hold the phone . . . didn't you just say that if the student doesn't learn, it is the teacher's fault? -
If I set you on fire, it would be with the greatest respect and dignity.
-
Bzzzzz. . . . try again
-
Could someone please enumerate the steps for the official way to fold the flag?
-
Protesters have lit themselves on fire for centuries. " there are many dignified and respectful ceremonies that include separating the field of stars from the stripes. It's not improper, it's not in violation of the U.S. Flag Code, so why be so argumentative on the subject? " Because it is silly. Once the flag is dismemebered, it is no longer a flag. Silly people try to create symbolism where none exists.
-
The flag code says that the preferred method is burning but doesn't preclude other methods. I'd say that if you dismember the flag, it is no longer a flag and can be disposed of by sealing it in a bag and placing it in a dumpster with reverence.
-
The flag code refers to the flag as a "living" thing. Since when is it dignified or respectful to rend a living thing into pieces. Just burn the flag as it is, a flag, and not a bunch of scraps.
-
"Personally, I like the 2 fire method. One for the Body of stripes, 1 for the field of stars. Cut them one from the other, so you're destroying 2 pieces of cloth, not a flag." Once you cut it up, it is no longer a flag so doesn't need to be burned. If you want to treat it with respect, don't dismember it, cremate it whole. You wouldn't chop us your grandmother, would you?

Let's see . . . there's Leatherworking, Rifle Shooting, and Wilderness Survival. For advancement there's the number of required knots, signaling and tracking. If I had the inclination, I'd go downstairs and dig through my archives and give you more. -
"The extra value created through specialization that leads to higher productivity is distributed through the market to the benefit of both sellers and buyers," Translation: Mo' money for the greedy capitalist and less money for the struggling proles.

Sorry but it isn't reversed. Reverse the image and then look at the writing on the tag. BTW, the puttees are the leggings not the pants, those are breeches.
