  2. My parents are Atheists. If you want an understanding of Atheists , I suggest you check out The Freedom From Religion Website. By the way, this is not my plug For Atheists-just informatation so people on this thread have an understanding on what they are believe. I am not an Atheist & I do respect everyone's beliefs systems. 9. Hi, This is what my pack does-we have monthly den leaders meetings-this is where we start discusion about blue & gold. This is where we determine who is responsible for what. So there is no one individual who is responsible for everything. Do we want it catered? Do we want a pitch in? This choice is easily determined by our pack budget, how well we did with our popcorn sale. We decided this year to have a pitch in dinner. The pack will purchase the main course & drinks-scout families will provide a side dish & dessert. We are forunate that we are located near a BSA camp. We re
  10. Hi Katrina, What kind of feedback are you getting from your parents? Why are they not doing their part? What do your Den boys say? Just curious. Laura
  11. Hi kittle, Here are some suggestions: First take the bull by the horns You will be surprised how things come together! My assistant den leader & I always schedule a monthly meeting to plan each den meeting month. We sometimes meet at a local food place or one of our homes. We both are requred to bring the following search info-games-opening & closing cerermonies-field trips-what acievements can we do in the den? From there we vote on what seems to be the most fun. I always tell the parents of my den boys - Please share your ideas! suggestions for anything in the
  12. Thanks to all, I agree with you - sctmom, mschwartz & NJCubScouter, I appreciate your comments. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. Your comments were helpful.
  13. Hi, I do not make patches & awards the main focus-my main driving force is for the den to have fun. To learn things while having a great time! But I believe in a reward for a job well done-or a patch to remember a special event. I agree the patches from the scout store are very expensive. What my pack does is order patches from other online patch stores such as Patchsales.com. This is of course, for patches outside the mandatory Cub Scout patches. I have a patch awards in my Den, such as for Honor Roll, uniform award, its fun for all, those surprise uniform inspections. What I a
  14. I always worry that there is some type of award or patch that I might be missing for my boys to earn. This is what I know, The belt loops & pins, progress towards rank beads, Denner & Asst. Denner. I also give out patches for special events we do as a den. Are there any other items I should be aware of? Is there a book that let's you know what awards a boy can earn? I don't want to let the boys in my den miss a thing. --I am located in Indiana- I have found that some museums here have patch programs for Cub Scouts-also that Boy's Life Magazine, Cub Scout Edition has patch programs as
  15. I am a fully trained Bear Den Leader, but my assistant den leader has had no training. So I am looking for training for her.
  16. Does anyone know if there is leader training available online? Thanks!
  17. Great website!!! Thanks for your help!
  18. I found that this worked very well, with my Den & others as well. Up front I let everyone ( parents & Boys) know that I want everyone to have fun. But rules must be followed. If a child continues to be a problem and vey disruptive-I go to the parents of the child. I will tell the parent of the child that they will be required to attend all Den meetings, to keep their childs behavior in check. If they will not or the parent does not keep them in line, I then will dimiss them from my Den.
  19. Hi, I would appreciate anyone who knows any den ceremonies, would you share them. Or direct me to a website with them. I have searched on the internet and I seem to find the same ones. I discovered that the boys in my den really enjoy these ceremonies but I need new ideas!! Thanks!!
