Trevorum 24
For several reasons, some personal and some ancient, the winter solstice is a special day for me. I wish all my fellow Scouters a great day and a just, peaceful, and productive new year. May your Eagles soar high and your Tenderfeet quickly learn how to treat their blisters. -trevorum
Hal_Crawford 15
A poem for the winter solstice and for all of us who treasure our time in the woods: "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" Whose woods these are I think I know, His house is in the village though. He will not see me stopping here, To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer, To stop without a farmhouse near, Between the woods and frozen lake, The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake, To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep, Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. -- Robert Frost Happy Holidays: Hal
SR540Beaver 116
I love getting to do this each year. HAPPY FESTIVUS TO THE REST OF US!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus http://www.festivusbook.com/
Hal_Crawford 15
And a Happy Festivus to you as well. Is it time to not decorate the Festivus pole? Time for the traditional "airing of grievances"? Wait, how does that differ from the rest of the year on this forum?
ghermanno 11
Happy Solstice to all of you as well. May the growing of the days bring more heat and warmth to you and yours. Rick
Lisabob 13
(chiming in behind by a beat) Yes yes, happy Solstice! And boy it sure looked the part here yesterday, pale winter light and a whole lotta snow.
packsaddle 753
The solstice happened just a couple of hours before I breezed past OGE on my way to upstate NY. And it's cold and windy and frozen here, almost like being a Presbyterian again. So I also look forward to the return of longer, warmer days...and of the fertility of the earth in spring, and I celebrate for all of those pagan rites that have come to be known as Christmas. Weight loss can come later.
