While copyright laws still apply, the movie was not as readily available then. BTW - purchasing it from another individual (ebay, etc) is not exactly correct either. Lots of libraries also have (ILL) Inter-Library Loan systems where you can search their holdings and have it sent to a location near you even if it's physically in another county.
