We even have elections and they picked there PL and APL

The new handbook comes out on 1/22. The old one's, if still in stock, I wouldn't buy.
OH I thought they are suppose to be on the shelf the first part of January.

I don't see the point. I would rather that WDL's instill other things in their Webelos--like advancement without parents, independent thinking, and working together.
Which is how I have my Webelos Dens setup, very little to no parent involvement. Matter of fact NONE of my boys parents are going on the Pack campout this weekend. I have me and my assistant (then the pack) I don't need no stinking parents getting in my way lol.

Gotta learn how to make egg coffee. Thicker than tar, don't drink after 3:00 pm or you'll never sleep that night, but it beats out a cup of store-bought Starbucks any day. And it can be made on any campfire in the country.
I wanna hear more about this Egg Coffee!

@@Stosh,
The accuracy of the information you receive can actually be tied to your device, the performance of your device (e.g., Do you have a bunch of other apps open competing for location services?
I have to agree with Krampus on this one. I guess I am a GenXer but I love my GPS on my IPhone via Google maps. This is NOT what I would use if I was hiking or anything outdoors, however we are talking about driving to one place via gps. Hands down great experience all the time.

I did (current Webelos leader) and I bought them a patrol patch. I wanted them to do so much more but time has slipped away.

I wonder who dropped the ball on this one. I went to my scout office to pick up my son's very first Boy Scout book (earning his AoL next month) and they didn't have any on the shelf and was back ordered until the 20th. Went to the website and same thing, backordered till the end of the month. Someone missed that projections huh lol
-
Granted, cub scouts is not nearly as much fun as boy scouts,
I beg to differ! lol
Son's moving up to the troop and I am remaining with the pack!

How much do you all require boys to wear their MB sashes. We actually tend not to bother except for Eagle courts of honor.
Court of Honor, that's it.

Thank God for these people. It is why most of us in IT have jobs.
In IT as well, atleast in some capacity. Not as much as I once was, Thank God

I hate that TAHAWK, some I guess are fortunate to have larger councils yet small enough to maintain that sense of Brotherhood. I value my relationship with my execs and I would do anything I can to help them.
DE's (my council specifically) are run ragged mainly because the size of each District. It is a job that I would GLADLY turn down if ever offered.
-
The BSA ID from the mysocuting.org is a NATIONAL number. It CAN follow you.
That's what I thought, there is always misinformation out there.
thanks
-
The back of the sash can be used for camp patches and past ranks if they like too.
But you can add a camp patch to the right shirt pocket as well correct? BSA calls it a Temporary Patch.
-
Saw the Official site, thanks
Qwazse- that was my thinking as well. I also have his slotted for Northern Tier and Philmont.
So 2,000 is would be a good guess right ?
-
Only if you stay with in council. Unless things have changed, if you move to a different council, you get a new ID number, and you got to resubmit records.
That I did not know, That's Eagle for that information.

I am a Colman NorthStar fan. Super Bright

Well then your DE's are unlike the DE's I deal with on a Weekly Basis. I don't only communicate with my specific DE but I am pretty close to a few others in the other Districts. We all have a mutual goal.
-
so the membership number is permanent then?
even if I don't pay dues next year or even for a couple years it won't get deleted?
that's great!
Correct.. Even from 40 years ago, think of it as your Scouting Social Security number
-
Your information is registered at the "Scout Office" and or your information is at Scouting.org where you did some of your online training. You can also keep up with all that information there once you put in your BSA number, all your training will be available.

In the Past year we have lost 2 DE's as well as the Field Director. We have 5 Districts and at one point almost 2 DE's per District. I know we are volunteers and from time to time beat up on the professionals and there are times the volunteers make the DE's look good, we all know that. Scouting is not an 8 to 5 Job and some of the DE's believe that it is, scouting is 24/7 even for the volunteers.
I know of 2 exceptional DE's and one just got bumped to the vacant Field Director position.
Why don't you extend your Hand Krampus to yours. I understand not all Councils are great and they need work and even guidance, but without them then where would we be?
-
I know we had a scout (Memphis, area) go to Japan for World and it cost him over 6k, but that was to go to Japan.

First I guess yea its 4 years away BUT still some have to save for 2 of those. So here is the beginning of the Thread
WHO
WHAT
WHY
WHERE
WHEN
The Who: Boy Scouts from All over the World
The What: 2019 World Jamboree
They Why: Because it occurs every 4 years, and its SCOUTING. Last time was 1967
The Where: @ Summit Bechtel
The When: July 22nd-Aug 2nd of 2019
Guys I am so new to this because in two months my son will be crossing over from Cubs to Boy Scouts. Son's birthday is Mar 14 2005 and I have considered 2017 Jambo but I would like to wait till World where he will be a little older.
Any clue on the Price (round abouts) I was approved for 2017 Staff and I am sure I will apply again for 2019 Staff
What I don't want is to NOT go to 2017 and find out 2019 is priced higher then I want to spend for the both of us.
thanks

Whether it was Black Friday or Cyber Monday I don't recall which one it was but REI had an offer for a complete ENO system for 120$. That included
Straps
Rain Fly
Hammock
Bug Net
Carry Case
Anyone that has looked into hammocks knows how much ea item is and knows just how much I saved. I was NOT going to buy such a system until I got it dirt cheap, in this case I WON!
Now before I took the Hammock route I bought a hammock at Wal-Mart that essentially looked just like an Eno (minus all the accessories) just to see if I would enjoy it. Its an easy system if you are up and down throughout the night like I am using the bathroom ALL THE TIME!!!! as apposed to crawling out of my Alps Mystic 1.5.
Wait and look for the Deals
I saved over 120$

Follow-Up to OP:
New DE, so now we have a Senior DE and DE; I guess that means we now have a "Key 4"? Anyway, the district commissioner only got 20% uptake on his "mandatory FOS" participation note. He is now wanting to set up meetings with the unit leaders. No reason given, but has basically given his schedule and expect leaders to fit in to time slots on his schedule. All slots are on a weekend where nearly every unit I know are camping (upcoming three day weekend in January).
I wonder if he knows just how out-of-touch he is with his units.
I get this totally. We have a new Finance Ex and he is really pushing this on volunteers as well. He actually setup a meeting at our local camp at 6pm during a WORK WEEK? Seriously?
