  1. Remember the skit known as the Candy Store? Here is a video of Boy Scouts performing the skit during their annual community show. It can be seen at http://melrosetroop68.org/videocandystore.html or Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC
  2. Melrose Scouting Productions Podcast (MSPP), the home of Buttons the radical Boy Scout and the Troop 68 videos, has joined forces with the PTC Media network. MSPP is the first video podcast of the Scouting-related network. MSPP joins three audio podcasts - The Leader''s Campfire, An Hour A Week, and Akela''s Adventure. These audio podcasts have been getting popular around the country, and feature Cub Scout leaders talking about Cub Scout issues. MSPP brings a bit of Boy Scouting to the network. Check it out at http://ptcmedia.net/ Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC http
  3. Here is another one I found. Cub Scout Commercial (Door Lock) http://melrosetroop68.org/videoCubDoorLock.html or _________________ Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC
  4. Great story. Too bad there more people outside of Scouting do not hear stories like this. Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC http://melrosetroop68.org
  5. I was just searching the Scouting files on my computer and came across this little gem I did not even know I had. It is a 30 second BSA commercial for Cub Scouting from 2003(?). I wish I would have found this a couple weeks ago. I might have been able to use it to promote Cub Scouting in the community. Check it out and see what you think of it. Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC http://melrosetroop68.org
  6. I have noticed that a bit around here also. Cub Scout age boys really like Buttons. Adults get a chuckle from Buttons. Teenage boys seem to think Buttons is too "childish", but I think inside they are smiling at his antics. Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC http://melrosetroop68.org
  7. There is a new video that features the puppet know as Buttons, the radical Boy Scout. This time he asks the question "You know you are a Boy Scout when..." and then attempts to answer it five times. You can view it on youtube at or our troop''s website at http://melrosetroop68.org/videos.html Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC
  8. A new program year is starting. I thought it might be time to review this once again. Steve B http://melrosetroop68.org/blog.html
  9. The Cubmaster and I have been trying to come up with a list of ideas about letting people know about School Night To Join Scouting. What we came up with is found here: http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/09/school-night-to-join-scouting.html Anyone have other ideas?
  10. Welcome Ohio-Scouter. Pull up a chair. I think you will like it here. Steve B Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC http://melrosetroop68.org
  11. There is an interesting audio podcast at The Leader's Campfire that has a panel of six Scout leaders talking about Webelos Transition. If you want to listen to Episode 30 at http://www.leaderscampfire.com/ Also check out http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/08/leaders-campfire.html for a little background info on the podcast. stevejb68
  12. Well, the 2007 summer camp season is over. Time to start posting videos about the fun of summer camp. I have posted a video online that features the Many Point Scout Camp staff (Minnesota) singing the rouser song during the week's opening campfire. It can be seen in a few places. Melrose Scouting Productions Podcast http://melrosetroop68.org/podcast/podcast.xml Our Troop's Website http://melrosetroop68.org/videoMPSCrouser07.html YouTube Over the next few months I plan to upload more videos of summer camp and troop functions. After all, someone should be promoting S
  13. I just might have to stop by Hallmark now. My Christmas tree could use a new ornament or two. By the way, after writing that blog about Snoopy, I have writen two more articles about other times Scouting has appeared in the comics or cartoon characters have appeared as a Scout (during my life time). Add Garfield, Calvin, Mikey, Casper, and Superman to the list. http://melrosetroop68.org/blog.html
  14. How many of you remember a comic strip that features a dog called Snoopy that imagines himself as a Beagle Scout? I have those original strips in a scrapbook. http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/08/beagle-scout.html I guess I kind of dated myself a bit, didn't I?
  15. Okay all you scoutmasters out there... What do you like to discuss with Eagle candidates during their scoutmaster conference for the rank of Eagle Scout? Do you have any topics other then the ones covered at http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/08/eagle-scoutmaster-conference.html
  16. The boys of Melrose Troop 68 had a great time at Many Point Scout Camp this year. Read about it at http://www.melrosetroop68.org/blog.html
  17. Oh yeah, the video can also be seen on Youtube at
  18. You may know of Buttons, the radical Boy Scout, and have seen some of his videos. You have probably read the recent post about the eighty year old assistant scoutmaster. What happens when they meet in the woods on a troop outing and conduct an interview? Well, it ain't no Larry King style interview, that is for sure. Check it out at http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/07/mspp-16-buttons-interviews-eymard.html
  19. Hopefully we all will still be as dedicated to the Scouting program as this eighty year old assistant Scoutmaster in Minnesota when we reach that age. http://melrosetroop68.org/2007/07/eighty-year-old-assistant-scoutmaster.html
  20. Considering that most blogs never last more then 6 months, and considering that there are few Scouting blogs out there, I am happy to report that Troop 68's "A Scoutmaster's Blog" has been going for over a year and has reached it's 100th posting. http://melrosetroop68.org/blog.html Ah, there is nothing like a bit of self promoting. (I wish the BSA would do a bit more of it.) stevejb68 Scoutmaster, Troop 68, CMC
  21. Sometimes Scouts do things are are not very smart, but they are young and are still learning things. We as adults however think we know everything sometimes, and all of a sudden we do something stupid in front of the boys. I call these incidents "lessons in stupidity". I wrote about a couple of mine at http://melrosetroop68.org/blog.html Have you done anything stupid lately? Steve B
  22. Ba ba baaa ba ba bobwhite Ba ba baaa ba ba bobwhite Ba ba baaa ba ba bobwhite Bobwhi -i-ite! Back to Gilwell, Happy Land I'm going to earn my ticket if I can. stevejb Bobwhite!
  23. Yes, I did see that in Spiderman. I thought it was nice to see Cub Scouts in a major motion picture. Nice PR, even if they were just "background".
  24. I have a question for the members of this group. In this world of internet blogs and podcasts... How many Scouting related blogs do you read regularly? How many Scoutings related blogs do you subscribe to? Which Scouting related blogs do you read? Do you know what a blog is? How many Scouting related podcasts do you listen to or watch regularly? How many Scoutings related podcasts do you subscribe to? Which Scouting related podcasts do you listen to or watch regularly? Do you know what a podcast is? I have not found very many scouting related blogs and podcasts yet.
