  1. I have some size 8 pants but he won't be in the long. The pants I have are brand new and I got them at the uniform swap. I will be glad to donate them to someone who needs them if someone donates to the size 10.
  2. My husband told me that he was a Tenderfoot and earned his safety and stamp collecting patches. He no longer has them. I was thinking it would be a nice present to find them and frame them for him. Can I order the current versions of those patches? I would really like to get him the version he had (in 1970 he was 11). Good idea?
  3. What about a non-denominational Christian award? I'm positive that the religion I'm (somewhat) following would not develop their own emblem but I want to give my son a choice if he wants to do this acheivement for the religion section or the other one.

  5. thanks jd I did have a talk with the current cubmaster and he understood completely. He said that *if* anything is a problem, it would be that the other cub scouts may not understand but they won't disrespect his beliefs. I had a look thru the bear book and fortunately it give a lot of choices in the various Achievement sections. I can't wait for my son to get his Bear patch. He will have his Bobcat patch at the end of the month! J
  6. I really like the velcro idea!
  7. I just enrolled both of my kids in the Scouts; my daughter will be a Cadette and my son is a Bear-level Cub scout. I'm one of the 2 webmasters for my son's pack. I'm also graduating this Dec with my BS in AIT from University of Baltimore. I have my AS in Accounting. My only concern thus far was hoping that the Scouts won't conflict with our religious beliefs. Our religion dictates that we remain completely neutral with regards to politics. For example, we do not pledge to the flag, but we aren't anarchist. So far, so good. Looking forward to posting on the boards. J
  8. Hi, I'm a current Applied Information Tech student and one of the new webmasters for Maryland Cub Scout Pack 355. I'm currently redeveloping the website. I have a few more tips to add: Don't overuse Flash or any kind of graphics. Have a "Members Only" section that current Cub Scout leaders and parents can access. This would be ideally password-protected from the general public. If your site has multiple pages, use a style sheeet to keep the pages uniform. Keep the site simple so that the person following in your footsteps can easily keep the site going. If something is comp
  9. I want to get my son a long sleeve shirt and a short sleeve shirt. Some of the patches I know I will have to double up on, like all of the patches on the shoulders. What about the rank patches? Will I need to double up on those too? or are they just pinned on? I don't want to have to re-sew every time he wears a different shirt.
  10. That's a good idea. I will ask my daughter if she would do that. BUT, I still think the charms suck.
  11. I read somewhere (prolly on the official site) that now S2B is in conjunction with the IPAs. Stuff like Car Sense and Orienteering teaches a girl to be independent. How about a Weighlifting Patch?

  13. I've read all the posts - I must say I am disappointed that GS is going away from the Cadette / Senior status. I wanted my daughter to join so that she can earn the patches, not get little charms that will eventually turn green. I didn't think the GS was so "girly". I may rethink her membership.
