My scouts are getting tired and hurt carrying the American Flag and the Unit flag. Does anyone has plans on how to create the Carrying Straps? I remember a long time ago(20 years), the scouts created their own.

 

Any help highly appreacted.

 

Maybe for your leatherwork MB someone could make one that would be a little more practical than some of the projects I've seen pass.

Just buy 'em. Lots less trouble and they will adjust to fit big or little guys.

I did not think they were that much. But for the right thing I guess you are going to pay the right price.

One has to be nuts to cough up $55 for a flag holder.

 

A cloth/leather cup or cone attached to a long strap incorporated into a plastic back pack buckle and one has the same setup for about $10. Most units don't have $110 for two and $20 will be more than enough to solve the problem. Wide nylon webbing can be purchased at any camp store and the buckle will be rather cheap.

 

For what it's worth, I always had my boys drop the end of the flag pole in the cargo pocket of the uniform. Works just fine and doesn't cost anythining.

Then, too, they do make duct tape in colors now...

We got ours from a local flag shop. They're reinforced webbing in white and cost a lot less than $55. I would keep on googling.
