le Voyageur
11 000 acres = about 50 extra miles of backpacking trails, plus supporting outpost programs ...
jpstodwftexas
Well Philmont is suppose to Maintain the Working Ranch..and It is a Lease agreement so Not really sure what It equates to in the Way of Programs..and additional trails
jpstodwftexas
wildcow milkingWildcow milking is a Ranch Roundup/ Rodeo event where you have you rope a Wild cow (a Non Dairy Breed of Cow), milk a quart of Milk and race across a finish line..Usually done in teams of three. Non Dairy Breeds tend not to stand still when ya milk them.
skeptic
It can become a real experience for cattle ranching, just like any other program camp. Only difference would be the space used. And, with that much area, there may be some gems for simple camping locations and so on. Have to be a lot cheaper than private programs outside of scouting, especially if linked to the regular program in some way. Maybe a day or two program for some groups, and others that spend the whole time just there doing the day to day things a real ranch would do. Wish I was young again. le Voyageur
Well Philmont is suppose to Maintain the Working Ranch..and It is a Lease agreement so Not really sure what It equates to in the Way of Programs..and additional trails Let me rephrase....11 000 acres is a sufficient amount of land, regardless of location in the world for the development of about 50 miles of hiking trails depending on terrain.. However, the powers that be at Philmount will follow what is stipulated within their contract which may well set fixed limits, or forbid the development of trails within those 11 000 acres.. EagleScout441
Since they have to maintain the ranch, Horsemanship MB would be a good fit.
