Immediate Recognition Ceremonies

Last year I just handed out the yellow beads as they earned them as Wolves. This year I want to try and do better when they earn the red as a Bear. What do you do when handing out Immediate Recognition Beads?

Nothing real special. We hand them our during pack meetings. The DL does explain what the are for and how the scout worked had and earned them.

 

WE do something a bit more involved when rank is earned and go all out during crossover and graduation ceremonies

Immediate Recognition beads are supposed to be exactly that, they should be given out by the Den Leaders when the scouts earn them, it should not be waiting for a Pack Meeting...

Either at the next Den Meeting, or the next Pack meeting. I would favor the Den Meeting, where you would have a small opening and closing ceremony, and lots of neat stuff in between, yes?

The Pack meeting gets crowded with minutiae and can be a slow going thing for the Cubs, make that different and for BIGGER awards.

Oh, and give'm a "round of applause (clap in a circle)" or "a big hand!" (open the hand up wide above your head).

Personally, I haven't met a kid who remember the beads, so less fuss more fun is the way to go.

 

I'd suggest a short song at the den meeting, but folks might call that hazing.
