Song for Cub Scout slideshow - any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have to create a slideshow of pictures for our year's activities to play at our last pack meeting next week. Normally this is 4-5 minutes long. Can anyone suggest a downloadable mp3 file to play in the background?

I've been searching and I did find the mp3 to Follow Me Boys but its only 2 minutes long. I know I'm gonna end up repeating the song to last this long. Just wanted to see if anyone else knows of something or a better Cub Scouts song as an mp3 or other format.

Thanks!

Warren

Gee, that's a tough one. The music needs to go with the slides.

I saw a great one recently that used the Star Wars theme.

I think that Also Sprach Zarathustra might be good.

Theme from "Magnificent Seven."

Magnum PI theme.

Miami Vice theme.

For each of the last two years I have made a DVD of pictures from our Pack activities. Its what I (CM) give to each of the families as a thank you for their participation. It runs about 1/2 hour long and I break it up into chapters based on the activity.

Anyway - some of the songs I have used in ours include "My Best Friend" by Queen, "Unwritten" from Natasha Bedingfield (or something like that), "Push it to the Limit" from Corbin Bleu, the theme from "The Courtship of Eddie's Father", "What time is it?" from High School Musical (2 I think) and a bunch of others. Sometimes I play the songs a half dozen times to make sure there is absolutely nothing objectionable about it - especially songs that are currently popular on the radio. One favorite is a song from Rent "Seasons of Love". "Time of your Life" by Greenday is also well liked - but make sure you listen to the version you want to use (for language).

Hope this helps

I'll second Rod Stewart's "Forever Young"--that's what I'll be using for this year's Wolf den slide show.

Last year I used "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story for the Tiger den slide show. It was my goal to make the mom's cry, and I was not disappointed!

I agree with Forever Young by Rod Stewart. The Cubmaster in my son's pack used it a lot and when I hear it it takes me back to long ago days.

Before decide on Rod Stewart, check out the real Forever Young.

May God bless and keep you always,

May your wishes all come true,

May you always do for others

And let others do for you.

May you build a ladder to the stars

And climb on every rung,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,

May you grow up to be true,

May you always know the truth

And see the lights surrounding you.

May you always be courageous,

Stand upright and be strong,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,

May your feet always be swift,

May you have a strong foundation

When the winds of changes shift.

May your heart always be joyful,

May your song always be sung,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

In February 2007 my husband made a slideshow for our outgoing Webelos covering their trek from Tigers through Webelos. He used 4 songs. "Teach Your Children Well" by Graham Nash, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day, and "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty. Since they were crossing over to Boy Scouts, the very last song was "Goodbye" by Bon Jovi. It was a real tear-jerker. After 4.5 years we had lots of pictures.

Another year they used the song "Fingerprints of God" by Steven Curtis Chapman.

I agree with Forever Young. However, Joan Baez does a much, much better rendition then Rod....

Also, the Circle Game (Buffey Saint Marie)

The Gael is also great....maybe even Ahoskan Farewell

I was watching TV the other night and saw something that I thought would make a great song to go with the day camp themes or other out door adventures.

Indiana Jones Movie theme

I think that is what I am going to try to use for our slide show/tiger round-up

Joan does the Dylan song. The Rod Stewart song was a(in my opinon, poor) rewrite of Dylan, which eventually led to his paying royalties to Dylan. Joan Baez does good performances of Dylan songs. Dylan I think did his best on the Planet Waves album.
