  1. I remember listening to one of the old Baden-Powell addresses and he talked about boys wearing the uniform and getting grief from other boys. He said that wearing the black eye that one got from their peers should be worn as a badge of honor or something like that. Sounds like it was a problem from the Get go. Those were the good ole days.
  2. Just curious Would it be appropriate to wear the Eagle award Silver Medal as an Adult Scouter in uniform at say an Eagle COH? I'm attending one this weekend, and looking forward to it.
  3. I don't know if over the pond they have the same restrictions with Boy Scouting but they have some interesting religions due to registration laws a few years back. *clears throat* http://www.jedichurch.org/
  4. I know it's pretty close to the WWI Doughboy uniform? I know there's Reenactors out there that might produce have access to patterns for such uniforms.
  5. While I like some things about the new uniform, I just feel like its just the ODL redux. Or version 2. If they had wanted to really have a "Centennial" uniform then why did they not consider going back to the history of scouting and perhaps consider the old medium khaki-green shirt that the scouts had for well the better part of the century. Using the new materials even. Kind of like the NFL teams are doing this year with the Retro uniforms.
  6. Sorry... I was using my wife's computer.
  7. What is the length of term for a District Committee chair ex. Camping training advancement? Is there offical guidelines on this or is it up to the Council how long they serve?
  8. Industrial Hygienist here. Nature of work gives me a bit of free time as Im self employed. Currently for my pack COR and Pack Trainer. Campmaster, and looking to help out on the District level. Busy busy but loving it.
  9. No NE this is new. It was announced by Scoutstuff on Facebook. Looks like it would be for cooler weather if its like the old one.
  10. I was listening to those and BP said listen to the guy with the patches because he is a smart
  11. Just got this over the line. Looks like the Centennial Uniform without the Bellows pockets and Smokes patch. I think I need a new shirt. http://www.scoutstuff.org/BSASupply/ItemDetail.aspx?cat=01RTL&ctgy=PRODUCTS&c2=UNIFORMS&C3=USHIRTS&C4=&LV=3&item=695BSSSS&prodid=695BSSSS^8^01RTL&
  12. I wear my Eagle, Aol and my religious knot. Yup raving Ego right there. I wear it because once an Eagle always an eagle. It also helps as a remminder to myself to the ideals it embodies. I think many of the knots do that. I hate to put out a blanket assumtions, but don't the naysayers just come off as a bit envious or sound like they get intimidated by people with embroidery on their shirt? ( I'm sure there are a few bad apples out there but they are in the minority). This just smacks of people not getting the program. It's not what's on OTHER peoples shirts. Get off the
  13. lol West I was thinking what a Jackass as I was reading your post and then you said that. A reason for a committee member to wear the uniform. A good portion of the training I have attended so far have required the wearing of uniforms. The committee member today might be tomorrows adult leader.
  14. ""I don't question your dedication to the program. But also, don't question mine, based on my adornment of the uniform. If you came across me at a campfire, would you size up my dedication and experience based on how much bling I have? Or would you treat me like any other scouter? "" Looking at someone who wears AOL or Eagle then you can tell as an adult the level of experience they have with being involved in the program. Being a new person and seeing someone with the knots for say the cub scout program you can get a sense that this person has been down the road we are also traveling and
  15. Hi there Eagles Scout class of 1992. My son just joined Tiger Cubs and is going to continue the tradition. Jumping back into scouting with both feet forward and wondering why I've been out all these years. This is an organization that I was and am once again passionate about.
