  1. I am cubmaster for the Pack. At tonights meeting I was baited and entered into a verbal altercation in front of three webelos and another parent and cub sister. This particular dad has never wanted to be in volved in the first place but his told him he had to be. From day one he has constantly been a complainer. He has been a thorn in my side. I am undecided if I should just close the pack and take my son to another pack or continue on with this pack. The altercation started when I was explaining why I need help as a leader. I was talking about why I need den leaders, something the pack
  2. I have found that even with the cub scouts you have the conflict of extra-carricular activities taking presedence over scouting. I just continue on woth the scheduled program and what the boys miss they just miss. I do not understand why people sign the children up for multiple programs on the same night and waste money. I contact the parents to let them know wht their son is missing, and if they care to they can have him make it up on their time. I do not have time to repeat programs for every boy that misses meetings. We leaders can not afford to get discouraged or we will faint out. W
  3. I THINK RUSH IS STILL USING THOSE DRUGS HE WAS PUSHING A FEW YEARS AGO. I HONESTLY FEEL THAT IF IT WERE NOT FOR PEPOPLE LIKE RUSH AND HANNITY OBAMA WOULD NOT BE PRESIDENT NOW. THIS IS A GREAT COUNTRY AND THE SCOUTS BOY OIR GIRL ARE GREAT ORGANIZATINS. MY BROTHER AND I WORE THE SCOUT UNIFORM AND A FEW YEARS LATER WE BOTH WORE THE UNIFORM OF THE MARINE CORPS. VIVA LA USA. RUSH HAS TO BE IGNORED WHEN HE IS NOT MAKING ANY SENSE AND RIGHT NOW HIM AND HANNITY ARE NOT MAKING MUCH SENSE.
  4. I will pray and my boys will be notified this wednesday at our pack meeting
  5. Have you asked your chartered organization for a place at their facility. We also use the local Metro Park for some of our trainig and the boys and siblings love it. One parent can cook hotdogs during the training and feed the boys after the training is completed. Many Metro Parks have programs designed for all scouts of all ages, talk to the Park Naturalist or Ranger. Good luck.
  6. I need some ideas for fundraising, aside from the popcorn. I have several boys who will not be able to attend camp this summer if we do not raise enough money to help their parents pay for camp. PLEASE HELP, ALL IDEAS ARE GOOD ONES. THANK YOU.
  7. I took my cub scouts to an assisted living center and they sang for the residents, this was a great service project. The kids loved it as many of my cub scouts have sisters that are in the girl scouts they were in attendace also. The residents loved it also.
  8. I would rent on an as needed basis or charter a bus. Sometimes Greyhound or other charter bus companies will give the Scouts a good discount shop around. Also look into some of the contract school transportation companies they will nogiate. I would not buy a van and take on all the responsibility with the upkeep and storage when not in use.
  9. When it is as cold as it has been in the Easter US and Canada the last few days. That is when it is too cold to camp, unless you are in a heated cabin, then it does not matter.
  10. I search as many council wweb sites for ideas as possible. I also use www.kids.gov, they have a ton of tings you can do with youth of all ages boys and girls.
  11. Tell them to take their shower after they get out of the pool. That is what I had my pack do during summer camp.
  12. We are not are very rich pack and we are considering building our own Pinewood Derby track. I would like to know if anyone else has built their own track. Was it difficult? Time consuming? And was it worth it? Should we consider a fundraiser to buy our own?
  13. It is high time in the USA that we have a coed scouting program. Most other commonwealths of the UK have a coed scouting program. Many of the leaders in the US are women anyway and in the cub scouts that was always the case for many years. When will we in the US catch up to the rest of the civilized world.
  14. We did not sell popcorn last year. We sold "NUTS FOR SCOUTING" from the Virginia Diner. 1-888-VADINER. The incentive we used was the more you earn the less you have to pay for Cub resident camp. It worked. We were able to pay for camp with little or no trouble. We also use other fund raisers thorughout the year. This will be o ur first attempt at selling the popcorn this year.
  15. I think that the best advice I could give you is to take the BALOO Training and attend the National Camp Scholl in your area. Then I would volunteer to ramrod the planning committee for next years Day Camp. Planning is everything and so is training. Good luck.
