Scouter.

What printed materials does BSA offer in other languages? (I.e. Spanish, any other, ets). We have a large Spanish population, but I have no idea without tedious digging and researching on the Internet...as to what might be available. Anyone?

...I actually got a package in the mail today...which I had forgotten about. Earlier this month, I sent an email to ScoutStuff inquiring as to a certain interpreter strip. They said they would look into in. A couple days later, they called, asked what language, and how many I needed. With that they asked for my CC info and said 2 - 4 weeks. So today,,,I got the package with 4 brand new interpreter strips....custom made by BSA. $7 each...but I got them and pretty certain no one else has this language. Collecting? ....Nope...speaking it and corr responding in it as well

...and now I know why my wife wanted my password to post something! Changed my password and told her to get her own user I'd ...I'm not having her post about women's stuff (not against them mind you...). Ok...I'm gonna stop while I'm behind and have my foot firmly planted in my mouth.

Eagle92, I hear what you are saying, but looking a little further, I found: BSA International Webpage - "An emblem of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, the World Crest may be worn by all registered youth members and adult leaders as a symbol of their membership in a worldwide Scouting brotherhood." I'm not going to take a stand either way on this issue as I don't know enough. But...I did just hear that a bit of new information on the background info has surfaced in the last 24 hours or so. It is quite eye opening. Peace...S.

I see that they have bathing suits out now. How about women's bathing suits? I would not dare show up in a bikini (again) as it appears to be totally taboo. (Regardless of the fact that the program guidelines never mentioned anything...I'll let that drop. I've gotta echo what Oak Tree stated in substance...that it's a bit of a forensic search to locate local councils and districts to see IF the have program offerings that might be of interest to our units. Again...geographic boundaries which are unknown and councils which we don't know are local neighbors makes the research difficult. I don't knock the scouts doing the searches, but what about, Area training, Adult Regional training, and other WB course offerings? I'm a bit confused. Help me out guys. BSA Insignia Guide states for the "World Crest Patch"...May be worn by all members of Scouting to symbolize their membership in the World Scouting movement. But the Scoutstuff.org webpage with that patch has it listed under "required" patches and states...Part of the Official Scout Uniform worn by all members of Scouting as a symbol of world brotherhood." It is obvious that a council can only sponsor so many activities. Additionally, Woodbadge may only be held 1x a year or less and yet there are still interested parties that want to pursue Woodbadge. Some councils off international events, while others do not. In my experience, it is a challenge to find all of the surrounding councils, review their websites, and try to find activities the youth may be interested in, That is not to mention "Area" or "Regional" events that may be taking place. Kd7kip...I identified with the trophies. Even more.., I remember as a kid that I had to "Try Out" for softball. Not anymore...no discrimination..all kids get on a team and many leagues don't keep score, they just play, but at the end of the season, they all get Trophies. In regards ... To the "What do we get for attending?"...I have to admit I have a shoebox of those that don't really mean much...EXCEPT my "Northern Lights Council (North Dakota) KLONDIKE Derby Patch". Cold...we all qualified for the sub zero patch during the day. That's a keeper ;-)

Kd7kip... My opinion is that as a culture, scouts included, we have moved from much less recognition to much more recognition. Fewer patches > many patches Fewer recognitions > more recognitions Fewer awards > more awards It seems more has become better. The girls love the patches. It can be a really social thing comparing patches. The Girl Scouts have a lot of creative, imaginative, and pretty patches for the scouts. Supposed to...no idea, but girls want to. Where to put em. How about a tote bag. They make them in Canvas and I've seen some troops decorate and put names on as an activity. (I think Michaels and JoAnns Fabric sell the for next to nothing) I think they are canvas or heavy linen or something. By the way...you rock for sewing all those patches on! SR540Beaver...correct...they do summer camp at another time. That council does this program as a supplement, not a substitution.
