  1. -Ok folks,

I have finished all the practical parts of my ticket.

All I need to do is the write up. But with most of us in this day and age, I have a tendency to not make time. I could of had the write ups done a month ago but I feel time is on my side, and it's not.

So this is where I need your help: PM me everynow and then asking how things are going. I figure a little peer pressure will get me off my rear end and get it done.

  2. Ditto what Trevor and Narr said.

I'm one of the poor FOS presentor slobs, heck I have the dubious honor of heading up our District's Family FOS campaign.

As with most non profit groups, the big cheese makes some serious dooky dollars. Main thing is make sure they are earning their keep. If not let the Council board handle it, that is their job.

  3. Invited to WB. I thought they did away with that in the very old course. I didn't get a personal invitation. I saw flyer at the council office and signed up.

I'll agree with a minimum age and tenure.

    21 and 2 years.

BTW alomost done with my ticket. All I've got to do is finish up my write ups, send it to my ticket guide.

and a good 'ole Bobwhite too.

  4. Hats off to you Jblake for your troop using the Venture patrol as it was intended.

    The Troop/Crew can work if:

    1. The adults and kids know that the troop and crew are different units with different programs, diffent age requirements...yadayadayada.

    2. Meetings are held on different nights.

So far I have only seen two sucessful Crews that have spun off troops. These folks keep it in focus as the a Troop/Pack Relationship.

Other troops that have spun off crews have died within a year.

I don't know what to do

I'm growing old and feeble and I can Bob no more

So I'm going to work my ticket if I can

On side note I'm working my ticket and I'll have two goals knocked out (maybe three) with in the next month.

  6. Don't worry about the other ships, just concentrate on yours. Make sure you provide the best program and actively recruit.

It's up the other Ship's youth, and adult leaders to keep them afloat or they will sink.

(yea I'm groaning on the last sentance also :) )

  7. My thoughts exactly Ed!

Dan, This is the issues and politics section.

My feelings about the ACLU are political and I have issues with them. Any organization that attempts to keep me from wishing people Merry Christmas I have a problem with that. Also God has a sense of humor.

  8. IMPORTANT!!!- Christmas Cards!!! - Spread the word

I got this from a friend via email and couldn't pass it up, so pass it along!

    ------------

    What a GREAT idea!

    Fun with the ACLU......

Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's Not the Christian Way, you know!)

    ACLU

    125 Broad Street

18th Floor New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree".

    . . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields!!

And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!!

  9. GNX,

Welcome to the wonderful world of being a Rookie Wood Badger. I too finished my 2nd weekend last night.

Great experience and fun. I was the only Venturing Leader in my class so I got a lot of questions from my troop mates, I learned a lot about Cub Scouting, but the most fun was letting the staff know that there was no such things as Venture Crews, they're called Venturing Crews.

I didn't hit the "mountian top" experience feeling, but something did move my soul. It was the last 3 hours of WB.

If ya ain't a Bob White then you ain't the best critter!
