  1. Ehy aren't you allowed to o in for boy talks to the local schools? It's nice that the kids got to do a flag ceremony....the more they do the better they get....maybe they can do one at the school or veterans day
  2. In our council wolves can go for a week of resident camp, if a pack goes for it. Most packs in our area offer the mini-week resident camp the council camps offers for wolves and bears and then webelos attend webelos weeks where the whole facility and program are dedicated to that age group. Some councils offer family camp weekends where cubs of all ages can sleep over with their families , siblings too
  3. My oldest son earned it this summer and had a great time. He is very artistic and enjoyed learning a new medium. Very thankful that it was introduced this year.
  4. THanks for all your suggestions. We solved the aquanaut issue by sending a Copy of the aquanaut pages to the church camp with the boys in question. Had their aquatics person verify the completed what they needed to do (except for the BSASwim test) and asked the provide their intact information if we had questions. The kids did it and returned the papers to us. The Cubmaster had this idea.. He also backed me up that we cannot give them credit for archery or BB because they did not complete it at a cub scout camp. Mom still didn't think it was fair but we showed her again in writing from t
  5. I too am a lady leader....we make crafts... Neckerchief slides are always popular with our pack. Christmas decorations that we hand out when carolling at the nursing home Mothers day flower pots that are painted The boys of all ages take pride in their work and as they work on a projects the can still listen and learn

  7. Welcome to Webelos-ville! I have 3 bits of advice 1. Contact the troop your boys will cross over into, ask or a den chief. Use this boy to help get the boys excited to cross over....if you can get 2 that's even better. 2. Don't fear asking parents with expertise in a field for help! Boaters can be great help with knots, a parent who majored in art or s an artist is a great resource. EMT/Firemen, engineers, scientists - a parent survey sheet is a great way to get some help for meetings 3. Go to your local RoundTable, get to know other seasoned Webelos Leaders & brain Pick H
  8. Thank you all for responding. I agree that meetings aren't babysitting service, but we are feeling taken advantage of by the parents in that respect. This scout was "misdiagnosed" as ADHD for a couple of years and medicated (behavior was a little better). Now the parents tell us he has Oppositional Defiance Disorder and telling him NO or Don't makes him worse.... Have explained him and parents that the other scouts have the right to tell him No and don't do/say hurtful things to them. Parents don't agree the other kids should tell him no, because 'he can't help it'. Does anyone have
  9. Any one have a link they will share? Our pack has a scout with ODD and it's negatively effecting morale of the other boys since this scout needs so much adult attention/behavior management by the leaders. Parents gave us tips they say help, but we haven't been able to get them to work with him....tend to make him angrier and then behave worse. The parents don't usually stay for meetings
  10. We started having this question a few years ago. Partly because of money and partly because of not understanding the importance of the uniform, sense of belonging, pride in belonging and a place to put the patches. $ Reason - We solved it by accepting used uniforms in a donation box. I de-patch them (rank only) wash and press them then they go into the tub. When a scout needs one for $ reasons we have one for them. Parents who have needed them are very grateful. Get to know people at your local goodwill stores We also suggest to Tigers to get the short sleeve version and a little big
  11. Camel back inserts saved my own sons at camp last year...I got the knock off ones at Walmart. One fit in their day packs and carry almost 2 liters. During cub camp my son was the only one who wasn't suffering early signs of dehydration, and we had the boys drinking water on the way to activities, when we got to program areas, before we left program areas...it was wicked hot that week. I've ordered one for me this year. I think the novelty of having a sucking tube draws the cubs in....whatever works when it's hot!
  12. Thanks for the advice. I checked w the local Y and the will do aquanaut for our group at the reduced rate of $150 because I'm a member and $ 5 extra for each boy who isn't a member. Our pack can't afford that so unless the parents are willing to help pay for it I guess it's an optional one. I wish we had a lifeguard in the pack
  13. I have parent who is stirring up things in the den. The kids are Webelos II and because she won't send hers to cub camp for any amount of time she wants me to award her kids the archery and BB belt loops and aquanat activity pin because she said the did the work at Church Camp. I have showed her that the boys Cannot shoot f or awards except at camp and that it s the BSA swim test that must be passed, not Camp Whatever's or the YMCA - our pack only des that at camp there isn't another way unfortunately. She wants to take this up w council and I'm nearly ready to say Go right Ahead. Ev
