"Coronado Girl Scouts gathered near the Spreckels Center “Rosie the Riveter Roses” on Monday to honor “National Rosie the Riveter Day,” designed to raise awareness about the 16 million women who worked during World War II.

Source includes a good interview of a "Rosie", 98 year old Betty Ridenour

Mamma rolled steel. Women on the shop floors was bigger than we realize.
The Socialist Workers Party agitated at the time, and she rebuffed them soundly. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t the only American woman who did.

That is an amazing lesson for those young girls and being able to keep that history alive!

There's nothing like proof of concept to pull you out of a spiral of self-doubt someone is trying to suck you into.

Well, except your own experience. It's really hard to take someone who's saying you can't do what you've already done seriously.

But for girls, who haven't had time to do all that much yet because of age, proof of concept is very helpful when it comes to deciding whom to listen to.

How wonderful that the scouts got to meet a live "Rosie"! Can't be many left.

Am I the only one that sees a connection to the controversy still hanging about in relation to females, especially girls, in the BSA?  Great history.  And I grew up with grand mothers and a mother that all worked, being a latch key kid in the fifties.
