Preseasoned Dutch Ovens

Now that the thread has been resurrected, I can comment on something that Stosh said:

 

"Too many people over-think cast iron. It is not that difficult. You do not need to do a batch of deep-fries or donuts to season a dutch oven."

 

Not saying it's wrong - you certainly don't HAVE to do a batch of deep-fries or donuts to season a dutch overn - but that misses the point, I think. Sure, we don't have to do it that way, but it sure is tasty!!!

Calico is right. Way over-kill on the seasoning with the donuts, does a nice job on the inside of the oven, but not the outside. Either way, if someone's insistent on doing it this way, I'm most certainly going to get in line for the donuts.
