The Uniform Police and uniforming errors

Recommended Posts

The only patches required on a BSA uniform thatI am aware of are; the program affiliation strip above the right hand pocket, the American Flag on the sleeve, a council shoulder patch, and the shoulder loops designated program service. Any Field uniform with those elements is complete and correct. All other patches are worn at the decision of the individual authorized to wear them and by unit choice. However, where the patches are positioned and when the awards can be worn are governed by the BSA.

Perhaps required is to emotional a word for some. I will adjust. There are 4 standard elements that must be present on a BSA Field Uniform in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or Venturing. The first two are the American Flag and the program affiliation strip that come pre-sewn on the uniform shirts. The second two are the council shoulder patch that signifies your council membership and the shoulder loops that distinguish the program area you are in. With these 4 elements, a uniform shirt is complete and correct. All other awards are worn by the recipient at their choice. The location of the award, and when it can be worn, is set by the BSA.

Ed, last time that I checked, the United States of America was the only country with America in its name. Canadians had their their chance to be Americans but blew it.

Patton wasn't speaking of Canadians or Mexicans in his famous speech from the opening of the movie.

Lee Greenwood isn't talking about Canadian or Peruvians in his song. Heck, Canadians have free health care but not freedom of speech.

America is the 50 states and the Territories or anyplace that two or three Marines gather on November 10th.
