  1. Is there any way around the two deep. Can I take my son(6) with me to pick up another scout, whose parents dont have enough money for gas. Rural area 7 miles apart. They have two boys (1 is tiger, other is Webelos 2) I dont want to lose either one of these guys, & the SM

    doesnt know their financial situation.

It seems a shame to lose scouts, just because of no ride

  2. Welcome, as you will soon find out,Eamonn is from England(you can hear the accent in his typing).I'm currently working on an exchange program with a brit troop. We're sending two from Nebraska, & they're sending two from southwest of London.

Welcome,& have you tried the "Marmite" yet?

  3. I drive a commercial motor vehicle. (Semi)

Today I pulled 205,000 pounds of Ammonium Nitrate.(fertilizer that blew up OKC)

I was cut off twice by high school girls who were late to class.

My daughter drove the same way. Then I took her in the semi.

My suggestion is to contact one of these trucking companies.(food delivery, local,or over the road) ANY of them will let you climb up & see the view,if not even take you out on the road. Too prevent ONE accident is worth it to them. Have an open mind when it takes

100 yards minimum to stop an 80,000# truck.

Then driving a car is pretty easy.

  4. When I was 17, I was a life scout,but I didnt really care.

I had a cool car & girls. Then I got into some trouble with the law(I turned 18 & it cost me 15 mos-3 years).

Now,Im 36, & I try to live up to the scout law & my own ethics

every day. I am an ASM,Tiger cub leader. You do Your Best.

Hopefully,He'll straighten out,but you became a better scout

  5. Sounds like some extra testosterone going on.

It depends on if you want to be the bigger person,or not.

A "professional" does not always mean better.

He/she gets paid for this. You spend your time at work supporting your "scouting habit". i.e. gas, time at camp,training,food,uniforms... you get the point.

Just put on the best program you can,& dont badmouth the other.

Dont sweat the petty stuff & dont pet the sweaty stuff!

    Good Luck

  6. two hours per week? I want my money back. Just wait until it's two hours a day. I got back into scouting after 15 year absence.

My 6 year old in Tiger Cubs. I got drafted to be the leader of that. Then Boy Scouts came up somewhere. Now an Asst.SM

Then Order of the Arrow came up. Now it's on to Commissioner training. All in "two hours" a week.

    Welcome,sit down & hold on.

  7. Go to your councils website. Type in units in your area.

You will get more than enough feedback. Just be careful what you tell your son.(Nothing slanderous) Remember; Little Rabbits have BIG Ears. Meaning, he'll likely blab to someone that your upset with. Not on purpose, but a need to fit in. You will find the right pack. It's like a glove,it will fit,or not.

  9. Well,I have a headache,after all this.

    I dont know if I'm jewish,catholic,or christian.

But I accept anyone who hasn't tried to harm me or hustle me.

We're all on a scouter website, presumably because we're all scouts her,who have taken the scout oath.

Remember that oath? Stand firm in your faith,Gentlemen, fore at least we have something to believe in.

By the way,I am a Christian Boy Scout Leader,& am faithful to that every day. Are some of losing site of what we're doing on this earth. If it's not to help our fellow man,& to guide the leaders of tomorrow,I quit.

I love scouting because the Lord is involved,(And I get to wear a really cool uniform!

  10. Let's be adults.

If your camping, take a walk, puff all you want.Don't blow smoke in a scouts face.

If your hauling scouts, smoke while your out of the car. Not in it!

Kids are not ignorant.2 out of 5 kids(age11-18) have already tried it.(AMAAC survey of pediatricians)

We're the leaders, never let the kids see you sweat.

  11. Will someone please explain all the different levels of OA?

I just renewed my membership after 15 year absence.

We just had our Klondike Derby.(-17 dgrees at night but it was a blast). Run very well, & I would like to get more involved, but I dont remember a thing, except when I got "tapped out" in 1984.
